        Hi everyone!

So today I adopted a bun that’s a little over 4 months old, but she won’t be at my house until Tuesday. I was wondering what I should feed her, because I know at the shelter right now she’s just been fed pellets and timothy hay. Through my research I read that younger rabbits need alfalfa hay as well. Do you think it would be a good idea to give her an alfalfa/timothy mixture when I bring her home? Also with the pellets, do you think I should get Oxbow’s young rabbit pellets instead of the adult formula? As for vegetables, I read that those should be introduced one at a time. What vegetables do you all suggest as good ones to start out with?

I’ll post pictures once she’s living at home! And her name is currently undecided. Oh and she’s a REW, possible a New Zealand.

        Thanks!

Here is a great site that has tons of information on rabbit diets. This has been practically my bunny Bible.

Welcome! In addition to the page that Skipper’s Mama linked, the BUNNY INFO section of BinkyBunny also has some great information: https://binkybunny.com/BUNNYINFO/tabid/53/Default.aspx

At 4 months, I would probably just get one bag each of the Oxbow young rabbit pellets and alfalfa hay, since she’s almost ready to transfer over to adult food. As for the veggies, you’re correct that one at a time is the best for introductions. Really, any of the “safe” veggies are fine to start off with as you slowly find out what she does and doesn’t like .

Okay thank you! I’m going to Petsmart tomorrow to get some alfalfa hay and see if they see Oxbow’s young adult food, as well as a few other things.
