Hey, SO today my bunny got neutered his been mostly drowsy, but theirs has been times that his stood up and walked around for abit. I brought him back at around 3:30pm today, and right now ts 7:20pm and he hasn’t drank anything or ate any pellets. His ate a tiniest bit of hay, and the tiniest bit of carrot. I tried feeding him the Supreme Science Recovery Liquid food, but he just kinda spat it out, or he pushed it to the corner of his mouth. I then tried to feed him a tiny bit of water through a syringe and he just pushes it away and if he does swallow some, he kinda does this sneeze/cough thing. He has pooped a couple of times, not like normal though but he hasn’t peed at all. I don’t know if any of this is normal for a freshly neutered rabbit or if something is wrong? Should I ring the vet tomorrow, if i still don’t see him eating/drinking through the night. He is also gonna start taking 0.56 ml of Metacam every morning. What does Metacam do to a rabbit? Help Sorry if it’s long.

Metacam is pain medication. Your bunny is likely in pain from the routine neuter surgery, which is normal. Do you have any of his favorite treats nearby? I would try to get him to eat one.

Harley just had his neuter and he didnt eat, drink, or even poop until the following day. We picked him up around 3:30pm tuesday and he didn’t do anything until about 11am the next day. by 2pm Wednesday he was eating a lot more than the basic nibbles. Just give him some time…he’ll recoup They didn’t send Harley home with any pain medication but they did give him a pain shot that was suppose to last 24 hours. Did he have any kind of pain management before they sent him on his way?

I think i’m going to just keep a close eye on him untill morning, but for right now, his been sleeping and waking up in his litter box for the past 2 hours.  I think they did give him a pain shot because I think I remember being told about it from one of the nurse’s. I hope the Metacam makes him feel better tomorrow!
