I found a bale of orchard grass hay at our local tractor supply…

I’m not sure when we are picking up our hottie because we both have been busy….but I know it is recommended for young buns to have alfalfa hay….but I don’t remember if it was ONLY alfalfa or if they could have variety of hay…

Can anyone help me with this?

A variety is good. You don’t want grass hay (timothy, orchard, brome, etc…) to be a totally foreign concept when the baby comes of age. Some people will actually reverse it and feed grass hays, and add in a handful of alfalfa, but not use alfalfa as the main hay. Pellets *can* be alfalfa, but it’s also not necessary if a little bit of alfalfa hay is given. If you have other bunnies, I would really just feed whatever they get and add in a bit of alfalfa hay.

Meadow was the youngest rabbit I ever got (4 months old) and the rescue had been feeding timothy pellets and hay exclusively, so I just continued with that.

Edited to add:  I love the look of “Hoe-toes”… (and love saying Hotot!)  Make sure to post some pics when you can!

            Good idea! Thank you!

Hubby usually buy the food and hay, but I pick it out. It’s good to know I won’t have to get two different foods, or separate hay.

              How old is the bunny?
