So we have had 2 bunnies for a few months now. One of them was supposed to be a female but we found out today he’s a male.

So we have 2 males! But they’ve been so in love since the first day! Any advise if they will end up becoming enemies? One of them just got neutered today..

As long as both rabbits are spayed/neutered, it doesn’t really matter what sex they are…with proper bonding, they can still become best buddies . Do make sure to have both neutered, and feel free to head over to the bonding forum for tips!

My boys love each other. I’m sure they will be fine. Like Peppy said, just make sure they are both neutered.

I have three boys and a female bonded. In honesty, it’s my girl who has created most of the problems with bonding. While my boys are ALL absolute lovebugs with each other. In my opinion, it’s all about personality rather than gender.

Are they neutered yet? If not, how old are they? I only wonder because as their hormones begin to come out they may actually become aggressive towards each other. This happens with females and males, not only males and males. So no cause for concern if they do begin getting territorial and such towards each other. I would separate them as soon as you notice any aggression so you can keep them on a good bonded path. Once neutered, I would start bonding! I did “bunny dates” with my boys until they were both neutered so they would remain close but I could still intervene if anyone got aggressive. They were perfect once put together after their neuters.

my boys were best buddies until a month ago!! they started fighting!! they are getting neutered in 2 weeks, then I can start the bonding process again!! even though they’re separated now by a fence, they still snuggle and groom each other through the fence!! just watch them closely!! they start fighting right out of the blue?? I think neutering will definitely help!! good luck with them!!!

                  hello!
Thank you all for your helpful replies!
They’re 7 months and 5 months respectively. The 7 month old one just got neutered yesterday so we’ll be neutering the 5 months old one next month. They’ve been living separately ever since we had them because we were afraid that “she” might get pregnant. But we now know that she is actually a he!
                  Hahaha!

Well, I would still be cautious, as your other bun could be misgendered as well And as males sperm is viable for a month or so after the neuter, it could cause oops litters if that is the case. So still keep them apart for now

The one thought to be a female is actually a male and was neutered today? Or the one who was “always” a male was neutered today? I’d still be cautious with the unneutered one. Like Monkeybun said, these little buns can be so darn hard to sex properly. The unneutered one may still be a female and be at risk of getting pregnant. You’re doing the right thing by keeping them separated.

the one that we knew who was always a male was neutered yesterday.
The mistaken one will be neutered next month!
We’ll be putting them together after both are neutered and have fully recovered

yea! I’m so glad to hear that male bunnies actually get along together. Been hearing a lot about male rabbits can never get together, that they’ll fight etc etc.

Update: Cubique (neutered bun) was humping his soft toy today (which he never did since day 1) LOL. He must have realised he’s not going to have any chances next time anymore hahahha
