I’ve had him since he was very young 4 or 5 weeks …. ( I know that’s to young now ) he is my first bun very sweet gives kisses all the time loves being petted uses his litter box perfect! . when I first got him he had a very large cage in the hallway and I let him out when I could watch him . he would walk around (like a cat or dog) or hop slowly sniff and chew … only thing he will play with is paper he will grab it and run (so cute) but he eats it so I don’t let him .. he looked sad so I got a baby gate put it in the hallway (maybe 2 – 21/2 expens worth of space ) but he would just sit in his cage anyway so I made a little house and took the cage away and he will dig in it or hop on top  .. is that all they do?  is he sad … can he eat paper? could he be mellow? are there games he might like if maybe he doesn’t know how to play? …. one of his fav things besides kisses is to get under the bed he’ll have his head out and when you go to get him he will zip in it took me 30 min to get him lol  … is he playing? cause it kinda   seamed like he was taunting me …. do they like chase games?      these are picx of his home … ya he chewed the wall, but not the mats lol  he had a ball with a bell but he hid it …?lol (probably the cat took them)

They like those nesting/stacking cups you can get for babies… They love to throw them about. You can buy a set in the baby section of the supermarket for a few dollars. Also willow toys or an untreated willow basket to chew on and sit in. Cat tunnels are also great fun for them. I think he just needs some stimulation to get in the mood to play.

would any small saver work, I have one lunch saver (put a carrot top sticking out) but he didn’t keep interest .he only really cares about eating (he has hay and pellets always) … can he have paper and cardboard, if he eats it? I’ve heard that its bad, its fine, you just think that he eats it (but where does it go? ) he ate it like hay. I want to get one of those big cardboard play houses but not if it will make him sick ..and I’ve seen the willow toys at the bunny supply I go to I’ll pick some up next time I go. thanks …… your buns are so cute, dragon leans on me like the ones in your profile pic

Untreated cardboard boxes are a great source of fun… They will tear them apart of course but as long as they aren’t shiny or painted they are fine but eating too much of it is not good so if he is actually swallowing the bits not just tossing them aside you need to take them away. The concertina cat tunnels are great and being nylon they don’t tend to chew them (if they do it’s not good) as they are too busy running through them. As easter is coming you should be able to find lots of untreated willow baskets in the shops as well as the willow bunny toys. Sea grass and apple stick toys are also good. Not sure what a “saver” is.

There are lots of toy ideas in the toy section of this forum. Try them and see if anything works but in the end, don’t expect that he’ll like any of it. What works for one bun doesn’t necessary work for another. Also, some just don’t like to play and/or are lazy.

                        Welcome!! He’s adorable

Have you seen a vet yet? How long have you had him?

If something is medically wrong, you don’t want to be buying toys for a bored bunny; I would see a vet to rule anything out. Often illnesses are seen in young rabbits, and seeing a vet will rule that out and you will be able to meet and line up a vet for spay/neuter.

Next how long have you had him? If it’s only been a couple of days, I’d give more time to settle and adjust before you really meet your bunny.

had him 2 1/2 month about …. he’s had the same temperament since day one, thought he was just young. I’ve actually begun to think he might be sick or sad I’ve called a couple vets but over the phone they say if he’s eating and popping he good …. I’d hate for him to be sick, how do you tell a rabbit savvy vet?

Your bunny is a total cutie pie.

I recommend you bring him in for a check up since all new bunnies should get a check up anyways.

Here is a good link on finding a rabbit vet. There are also listings for vets in each state.

My pair love cardboard boxes and paper (it’s fine as long as they’re not eating so much paper that they’re not eating hay). They really don’t play games or play with toys. One is active and loves to run around, but the other has always been laid back and mellow – it’s just how he is. Your bunny sounds normal to me.

I agree on taking him for a check up anyway. Rabbit savvy vets can be found on the House Rabbit Society website. Generally you want to look for a vet who sees exotic animals, not dogs and cats, as bunnies are considered an exotic.

Your bun is super adorable. Lops are the best 🙂

My Thumper is kind of like that. I have bought/made/recycled so many toys and each one he sniffs at then looks at me like “really?” He enjoys eating and running, that’s it. Besides that, he mostly likes to nap and sit around looking cool. His partner, Flower, is the complete opposite. She loves to play! She has chew toys, cardboard boxes, a diggy box, old towels… Sometimes, she tries to get Thumper to play but he just plays the curmudgeon and moves away to nap somewhere else.

Each bun has their own personality. Maybe Dragon is like Thumper and is “too cool” for toys and games.
