I buy Orchard Grass for my bunnies and I am needing to order more.  The last time I got a few bags from the rescue but I can’t do that again cause I have no where to put them in my room.  I blocked off under my bed and now I can’t get under there.  =P  I am willing to pay a little more for Oxbow hay if it’s better quality and doesn’t have BUGS in it.  Yeah, last time I ordered from Sierra Valley there were like dead crickets and roaches in there.  =/  Either way I’ll still make sure not to give the buns anything weird.  Is Oxbow worth the extra money?  Better quality?  Anyone buy from Sierra Valley?

        Thanks!

I buy oxbow but that’s just because our pet store only carries oxbow or Kaytee and Kaytee hay had more of the dusty crumbs than the actual long strands of hay. I got tired of throwing half a bag away because most of it was just hay dust :/ and my bun seems to enjoy oxbow so far! No complaints yet!

I have bought Oxbow for my buns since I got them all — so around 10 months. I have bought literally every size bag they have had, including the 50 lb. bag, and the hay has always been great quality (and no bugs!). I would highly recommend them as I’ve never received less than perfect quality from any of my bags I’ve gotten from them.

I can’t speak to the Sierra Valley hay, but the Oxbow hay I’ve bought has only ever been high quality.

Thanks guys! I just ordered some oxbow hay. =) Had to fight with the websites I was trying though because they seemed to all have been down at the time I was ordering so I waited a while and finally got to place my order. haha Might have been my internet but I dont know.

Never tried Sierra Valley. I always buy Oxbow. I have found dried grasshoppers on occasion but that can’t really be helped.

I wouldn’t worry about bugs in hay – if they aren’t using pesticides this is going to happen because it’s grown out in fields.

I use Sierra Valley and it is amazing! The orchard grass is very thick and so green and smells amazing. Also the oat hay is great! I have heard that the hay from oxbow is kind of thin? But I’m sure it’s not always like that. Either way, both of those brands are great
