I Do not want to give my bunny back to the rescue shelter.  I do not currently have the financial backing for a Air Filter, and have to keep him in my bedroom (I am a student, sharing a house, no alternative room for him). I’m looking for some ways of dealing with this, meaning feeding my bunny properly, but also keeping myself healthy, and not in discomfort. what are ways to deal with this. THANK YOU IN ADVANCE!

What kinds of hay have you tried? I myself am allergic to timothy hay, but oat and orchard don’t affect me at all.

MB is right, checking different hays is the first step… Second get a sealed tub to keep it in and a pair of gloves and possibly an apron/overshirt for serving it up into the tray or manger. Just minimizing direct physical contact will help immensely. Try to serve it into something that will keep it from spreading outside buns space and into the rest of you bedroom.

I would definitely try different hays! I’m really allergic to timothy but I’m fine with oat hay and orchard grass. It may, also, be the brand of hay that you’re allergic to. Some brands may just be dustier than others. BB sells some great oat hay and orchard grass hay. I would try them. If not KMS Hayloft has a great Blue Grass blend and Sierra Valley has some great oat hay.

I agree with everyone else. Try some different hays and see if you can’t find one that works better with your allergies. My husband was horrifically allergic to Timothy Hay but he can be around/handle Orchard and Oat.
