I mentioned in my food/hay post that my lop bunny, Hecklin, didn’t really like the Timothy hay I had been purchasing for them. So, I went out to PetSmart today and bought them a different brand of Timothy (honestly this one looks so much healthier and greener) and some oat hay to see if they’d like it.

My other two bunnies LOVED the hay, have always loved hay, but I’ve realized that Hecklin just hasn’t touched it. I’ve tried giving her some of the old stuff (which she hasn’t touched) and I’ve also given her a little bit of the new stuff (separately, of course) and she hasn’t touched either. :/

She eats her veggies though, which I know isn’t what she can only live on. I’m a little concerned. :/

I would see if Hecklin would be willing to eat another type of hay. I honestly don’t feed my little one(s) straight timothy hay. Mainly because I’m allergic to it. I feed them oat hay and a timothy blue grass blend hay. I would try giving her some variety. And if that doesn’t work. I would try buying one a hay topper to put on top of it. BB sells some great hay toppers. My little girl loves the roses and cranberry mix.

Hmmm, has Hecklin been to the vet recently? I’m wondering if she’s having teeth issues that are causing her pain. If she’s still not eating the hay I would definitely get her checked out by a rabbit-savvy vet. I would try Orchard Grass as it’s softer than the other two. And definitely get her into a vet ASAP.

Ah, no she hasn’t, been to the vet I mean. None of my bunnies have, but I’m going to get them checked up (and hopefully make some spay/neuter appointments) this week.

I hope it’s nothing too serious, don’t want my poor baby in pain :/ I’ll definitely try and see if she’ll eat orchard grass! I’ll also try switching it up. Thanks for the suggestions!
