We have been attempting to bond Winnie and Ollie for over 5 months now, and I honestly can’t tell if they are bonded or not.

They have playtime together and ignore each other most of the time.

Humping: Winnie has tried to face hump Ollie, but has been better about going the right way lately. She will nip at his back sometimes when she’s trying to mount. Ollie pretty much just lets her go to town. When Ollie tries to hump Winnie, he is usually less successful being that Winnie is a quick little bun and Ollie is a chubster I don’t think they have their hierarchy figured out yet, but I could be wrong.

Aggression: They have never fought. The most aggression I have seen is when Ollie is trying to groom Winnie. He will get his face under her chin or under her belly and it looks like he is attempting to groom, but he is actually nipping at her. Winnie has tried to get her face under his butt on occasion, which looks aggressive to me, but no nips have occurred. I don’t know if she is grooming or just wants her face under there lol

Grooming: Winnie has never been big into grooming anyone but herself ever since we got her. I have seen her on very rare occasion give Ollie a lick or two. Ollie is a BIG groomer. He is always licking us when we are petting him and has attempted to groom Winnie multiple times but she doesn’t reciprocate. I think this discourages Ollie, because he has not been attempting grooming like he used to. Thoughts?

Cuddling: I have seen improvement in this area in the last 2 months. They will sit next to each other, sometimes butt to face or face to face depending, for 20+ minutes. However, this has only happened when they are both on my lap and when I am petting them at the same time. This is what gives me hope that they will one day be bonded or are already bonded. This is what confuses me the most because they can be so cute and lovely towards each other when I’m there, but I have yet to see them do it on their own.

What does everyone thing, are my buns bonded or almost there? What should my next move be? Thanks in advance for any help

I think your next move is just letting them be together 24/7; It sounds like they have an easygoing relationship and are ready to take it to the next level nice job!

Thanks for the advice They live separately right now, but we do have a big 5 grid long x 5 grid high condo we are waiting to move them into. Do you think it would be safe to try to move them in together soon?
