Goodness, so in the last few weeks Moonpie has started shedding heavily. There are little tufts of hair sticking out all over him, and its floating all over the house. I’ve tried brushing him, but the brush I have doesn’t work very well. I’ve started taking him outside and just petting/rubbing him and that seems to get a ton more hair out, and it doesnt get in the house. However, it seems like there is the same amount of hair coming off of him everyday.

He actually seems to love being outside, he’ll just settle in and close his eyes and let me pet him for as long as I want. The neighbors had guests over who had a 2 year old, who of course wanted to come see the bunny when she noticed him outside. I was a tad worried but Moonpie was actually really great. He went right up to them and was nudging them (though I had just been giving him craisins, so he might of assumed they had something for him ). He seems like such a happy bun outside, even though he still doesn’t want to explore. So I think I’m going to make our outside time an everyday thing. I was worried he would try and sprint off, but he seems content to sit next to me, and maybe hop a few feet away from me then come back.

I was wondering though if there was any specific brush I should get him, or change in his diet I should make. I know ingesting a ton of hair can’t be wonderful for him, and I don’t want him to get sick.

I find the white buns have more coarse hair and really just picking the tufts out is a great idea – though they hate this. I really don’t know how much success you will have with a brush or comb. It does seem that the petting/rubbing/plucking is the best way – you could try it as well by wetting your hands and rubbing them over him – that seems to pick up loose hair as well – although it’s super messy for you.

I find that plucking with my fingers works the best Otherwise a ‘slicker’ brush works well or a comb with rubber grips like the ones sold in the BB Store

            I thought I noticed Rupert starting up a shed…Could it mean….spring is coming….finally? Soonish?
