We have recently brought home a baby Mini Rex/Netherland Dwarf bunny. Her name is Bella (unless we find out it isn’t a she in which case the name will change). She is the tiniest, cutest little creature. This is our first bunny experience and we are reading and learning lots. We bought the NIC cubes and built a condo before she even came home, but we didn’t realize she would be too small for it. Her first night home she actually fit through the squares and got out. So we quickly turned an extra dog crate into a temporary bunny cage. She quickly learned to use her litter pan and seems content enough, but the dog crate is too small for her. I’m wondering if anyone has a suggestion for keeping her safely in the condo we built until she is too big to squeeze out of it. She loves when we let her out, she does binkies all over the place and runs around and plays with her toys. I just know she will be happier when moved into the big condo we built. So if anyone has an idea for me that would allow me to move her into her condo I would be very thankful.

Welcome!! It sounds like you really did your research before bringing her home!

What I did with my guinea pigs when they were so small they could squeeze through the grids was double them up staggered, that way each grid is 1/2 the size. You’d really only need to do this on the base grid for each level to make the openings smaller. Another option would be to get a mesh/chicken wire and wrap that around the grids, again staggered so it cuts the size of the openings.
Hope this helps-and can’t wait to see pictures of Bella!
