        Hi everyone,

I was just wondering if anyone had any experience with oral neoplasene and if I could get an idea of how much it costs.

I’m considering adopting a female rabbit and she takes oral neoplasene daily. There was some evidence of cancer found when she was spayed, but the adoption coordinator tells me she has been cancer free for a year.

I have fallen in love with this little cutie in pictures but I need to be sure I can afford to pay for her medication before I decide to adopt her.

        Thanks!

I would call your vet directly and ask this – costs can vary widely from vet to vet. I would even ask the adoption counselor if you could continue to get the medication from their vet and if they know the cost.

Thanks Sarita. I’ve called a bunch of vets around here and none of them have even heard of it. I’m awaiting a call back from another vet a little farther away but he won’t be in until Tuesday and we are supposed to go and meet the bunny this weekend.
The adoption counselor said she didn’t have the bottle with her at the moment but she thinks the 750 ml bottle was $150. She thought this particular bunny’s dose was around .4 ml a day. So that gives me some idea of the cost anyway.

Wonder if they have to purchase it from a regular pharmacy with a prescription….just googling this it seems like it’s used frequently for dogs. Will be interested to know what you find out and if you decide to adopt her as well. Perhaps you might be able to get this from the vet they are currently using for her treatment as well. It sounds as if it will last quite a while since the dosage is small.

They get the meds from a holistic vet about an hour from me. The adoption counselor owns a bunny that also uses it, so she offered to go together and get a big bottle and split the cost with me for as long as she has her rabbit. They are also going to give me a good amount with the bunny to get started.

I guess we will see how the meeting goes on Sunday.
