So, i have found a bunny that fits well with Mr. Bunbuns and they seem to like each other. The owner (who I think is an animal hoarder) said that the pet store (EEK!) told him that Lola was a holland lop but from what I know about holland lops, she was way too big. So here is a description of her.

Medium (6-8 pounds at six months) lop. Short hair, black. She has a cello shape (skinny in the front and wide in the back) long skinny face. Ears are fairly long.

Thank for your opinion. Ill try to get you a pic soon,

You’re right – she does sound a too big to be a holland lop…a lot of pet stores will sell their animals as dwarf breeds because people tend to think that the smaller ones are cuter.   She also might be a bit big to be a mini lop, and the long skinny face doesn’t seem to match either. Unless she is of a less common breed, my guess is that she is simply a “mutt” lop mix of some kind (not that it matters!). Pictures would definitely help, and I’d love to see her regardless.

I hope things work out and you are able to give her a good home!

I am starting to think the same thing. She looks like an a cross between an american and holland lop.. Honestly she is not the prettiest bun I’ve ever seen because of her strange proportions but then again I’m partial to my bunbuns (dutch). I think he is the most handsome boy in the whole world . But Lola is very sweet. She is naturally submissive and very curious. She needs to be socialized and handled a bit more but that is easily fixed. I told the owner that if he could not find her a home that I would take her because she deserves a good home. And Bunbuns loved her and she didnt mind him.

            Thanks for the help!

She’s probably a mini lop. As babies they look almost identical much of the time, so the pet store probably didn’t get the details right. My Hannah is a mini lop and fits your description, though she’s on the small end at 5.5lbs. She has a long skinny nose and the shape you describe.

The buns meeting sounds promising. I hope you can take her.

That reminds me of when I got my 2nd rabbit, a lop. I thought he was so odd looking. His proportions etc. Now, I adore the way he looks. : )

                    A quick update!

We ended up not getting the lop because I ccouldnt afford to have her spayed. I was quoted 370 by the only vet in my region that would do it. We ended up going to a rescue in Pittsburgh and doing some bunny blind dates. We found a sweet little hotot/Netherland mix that bunbuns seemed to really enjoy.  Very excited to welcome the new member of the family. she is a sweetheart.    Ill put photos of them up tonight. Let the bonding adventure begin!

Tanslover, I adopted ophelia from a rescue based out of new castle pa. Its half way beteewn erie and Pittsburg.  Its called judge’s park. They took ophelia and her brothers from the erie bunny rescue that found them in a park in erie after someone dimped them as babies. They assume that they were out all summer and were considering them farrell.  But they all love people and are potty trained. Ophelia is shy and still runs if you approach her too quickly but she loves to snuggle and getting love. We see her getting more and more comfortable with us and her environment everyday. I think in a few months she is going to be a very outgoing house bun just like her companion bunbuns. 🙂
