Well I finally got my new bun! All that nonsense with the rescue was a pain, but I’m so glad he’s finally home. He’s been hanging out mainly in his cage, definitely not a fan of all the wood flooring. I’ve set down a rug and some towels and he’ll go in and out a bit. I can’t post any pics since I left my computer at my parent’s house, but I’ll post em soon. I’ve decided to change his name from Freebird to Moonpie, so if I ever get a second bun I can name it Twinkie :p

He is loving all the parsley I gave him. He’s actually only 7 lbs, so does that mean he gets a little over two cups of veggies a day? (going off what the house rabbit website says). The lady at the rescue was amazed, she said she was only giving veggies as treats.

He’s done a couple odd little leaps on the carpet. I’ve just been sitting watching TV, so I don’t think I scared him…. Is this a binky?

I love the name Moonpie! So happy you got him. He’s not at all that large! Yes, 2 or more cups of veggies would be perfect for him. Hmmmm….I imagine that the reason they only give veggies as treats at the rescue is due to the cost factor (at least that’s always been the case for rescues I’ve helped in the past).

That sounds like a binky to me.

Maybe get a cheap runner for the floor – rabbits can be very hesitate about wood floors because their paws are all fur and I think they slide on wood floors so there’s a bit of trepidation there.

Oh, the lady only gives her own buns them as treats. She didnt realize they needed anything more than pellets and hay.

They have over 200 rabbits at the shelter, so it’d be way hard to get them all veggies.

I am definitely gonna grab a rug for him. He really wants to explore the house.

He has been awesome about the litter box so far. Like one poo outside. How often should I clean it? I was reading that you should leave some poo/pee in there to encourage them to go there. Should I leave it for a day or so, or can I clean it?

I would probably do it every 3 days if you can handle that :~) I think it just depends more on your tolerance and his. I have 4 rabbits and do mine every 3 days.

That’s definitely not a problem. I clean the catbox 2 times a day with one kitty

Awww, YAY! I am soooo incredibly happy you got this bun!!! The whole story is just perfect and it makes me sooo happy that this guy finally has a forever home willing to help him through his disabilities! (Or what others would see as a disability!) Awww, Yay! This story makes me sooo happy inside!

Definitely sounds like a binky or two! So exciting. When I saw my bun binky for the first time (I didn’t know what a binky was) and I totally said to my boyfriend we mustve gotten the lemon bunny. He was sooo odd and cute and we didn’t realize all his behaviors were just normal bunny behaviors! LOL.

Here are some pics I took of him today. He has been binkying quite a bit, and has loved stretching out on his little grass mats. I’m gonna have to get some more because he is having a hard time getting traction on the flooring of his cage.

The neighbors came over to visit and he was super lay chill. He doesn’t seek out attention really, but if you put him on your lap he has no problem staying there and having his head scratched. He really likes having the sides of his face stroked, as soon as I start doing that the eyes close and he just melts.

He is adorable! Welcome to BB (even though you been around for a bit). I’m so glad you adopted him. That rescue worries me but I’m letting it go. This is a happy story! Congrats- he sounds like he’s in great hands

                            Cute cute cute .

I definitely saw the “Freebird” adoption notice on the HRRN facebook page earlier today, and I’m glad to see him over here on BB too! One of my bunnies was adopted there as well…while dealing with rescues can certainly involve a fair share of frustrations, it’s great that this lucky little bun ended up in a good home

                            .

Oh goodness I didn’t even see that. My neighbor was the one who adopted Leeroy.

I know any drama was coming from a good place, so I’ve put it behind me. The main thing is I got my sweet boy home, and hopefully I’ll be able to sell off the other cage.
