        Hi all,

I’m expecting my first child in less than two months.  For those that have been through this already, did you do anything special when you brought the baby home?  I know if you have a dog you should let them “meet” the baby, but I know bunnies are so different from dogs in their behavior and I’m not sure my bunnies will care one way or the other!  One thing I’m sure of is they will have to get used to all the crying and loud baby sounds…we’re typically quiet in this house when it’s just DH and I..

        Thanks!!

Do the rabbits have access to a common living area? Perhaps the baby could be in a carrier on the floor and the rabbits can have a sniff? No experience with this whatsoever, but I thought that sounded nice. If the rabbits have no further interest, then there is probably no need to push it.

I got a bunny after my baby, but she was very young at the time. She was very happy to see the bunny but sometimes her happy squeals would scare him, so if she got excited I’d just take my baby to do something else. The bunny in general didn’t need any sort of special meeting with her more so than anyone else. I read her stories in front of the cage and bunny watches her and she watches him.

I won’t have this issue for another 6 months, but if you are worried about bunny adjusting to baby crying, you could download a sound clip of a baby crying and play it periodically.
I did that with my dog. No clue what it would do for a bunny but at least it would be a familiar sound by the time baby is born.
