         helloooo

My bunny is almost a year old ( 10 months or soo..  we got her in May and back then she was around 3 or 4 months) , and she’s actually really small… I give her about 2 cups of veggies a day, a little bit less than half a cup of timothy pellets and occasional treats , like fruit or a baby carrot. I give her plenty of veggies, hehehe.. oh and i give her unlimited timothy hay. I was petting her today and I was wondering if she’s too underweight because I feel her bad bone and spinal cord.. but there is fat, lol. her tummy is pretty full! and she is a single Maine lion-head *

         Thankyou! (:

Both of my bunnies are a little plump and I can feel their back bone still! It is normal! I would worry if you can’t feel it!

Even if you can feel her backbone, I would actually cut back on the pellets to 1/4 cup a day. At this age she will start to put on weight and grow to her full size (which may never be any larger, btw) so you want her to maintain with the unlimited hay & greens as her main food source, supplemented by the pellets daily. It sounds like you have a healthy bunny and are doing things very well for her.

Have you had a vet do a basic health exam yet? If not, it’s a good idea to get a baseline exam when she’s young and healthy so you can be sure you have a vet you know and like, have a record there of what is normal, and then know who to call if you have a problem. A good vet will check her teeth, her body and may do some blood tests just to have it on record, and can reassure you about what is and is not normal for your particular bunny. You’ll get to know her behavior and shape by feel over time as well. (LOL I mean the bunny, not the vet!)

RabbitPam – Good idea, I give Buffy half a handful in the morning and at night time but i’ll cut down on that starting tonight.. and yeaup, I did have a vet exam in September because my bunny kept on sneezing and I called the vet to check up on her and they did a full exam ( cut her nails, weighed her, checked her teeth , and all the other things ).

                  Thanks !

Make sure you do any changes to her diet slowly though! Don’t just cut it strait to 1/4 cup, do it gradually.
