My bun, Elvira, was absolutely in love with me for quite a while. I would put my face next to hers and she would bow and let me kiss all over her face. We adopted a boy bun, Royal, so that she would have a friend (both fixed, of course!). The bonded amazingly and are so in love!!

About a week after we bonded them, my husband and I went to Maui for 10 days… When I got home, she no longer lets me kiss her face! She still lets me pet her, but isnt quite as lovey as she used to be. Its been a week since we got back from our trip and she still isnt as lovey. Did she forget about me? Did her bond to Royal overtake her bond/love for me? Will she go back to the way she was or stay this way?

        Thanks!!!

One of my rabbits got very annoyed with me after I stayed at a friend’s house for a night, he refused to accept any treats (even a blueberry!) and turned away from me if I walked into the room. Think about how you’d feel if your husband just left for ten days without telling you why! It will probably take awhile before she starts to think of you as a friend again. I’d try bribing her: offer her tiny bits of fruit, pet her more, etc.

I would just keep doing what you’re doing. It’s possible that the new bond has overtaken everything. In my experience, once bonded, they turn to each other for companionship (as they should) and the human becomes more of a spectator if the bunnies. There isn’t anything wrong with this, it’s just the way things are.

She may be holding a grudge because you left her They do forgive so no need to worry. I’d keep doing what your doing and she’ll come around.

When my husband and I went to Florida for a week my one little girl held a grudge. I got the butt for two days and she wouldn’t even take treats! It took probably about 4 weeks before she was back to her normal lovey self. Keep working hard to win back her love and she will finally give in and forgive you.

Thanks for your responses! I do know that her being bonded to Royal is much more important and I am really happy they love each other so much! I will keep trying and hopefully she will come around and stop being grumpy with me 😉 Shes slowly letting me kiss her face again, which is a good sign! If not, thats okay too. She has her husbun to love on!
