Yes, rabbits can eat raisins, but only in small amounts because they are high in sugar. Try to feed less than 1/2 tablespoon a day of any sort of fruit. Other fruits you could feed are peaches, pears, apples, bananas, there is a wide variety. Just remember to only feed a little as a treat. Start slowly with new foods, especially ones like fruit that are high in sugar, to make sure that it doesn’t upset your buns tummy.

Rabbits can chew on brown paper bags, just make sure that there is no ink printed on them or if there is ink that it is soy based.

You should really read the Bunny Info section on this website and take a look at the House Rabbit Society website — they really have a lot of information that will help you answer all these questions.

Everybody’s given good answers – yes to the raisins (in moderation) and yes to the paper bags as long as there is not a lot of printing on it.

Same as the others, I also encourage you to read the Bunny Info section. Have you taken a look at it?

When I told my vet that I gave Dexter a raisin a day she said not to. She pretty much told me that it can cause kidney failure and told me to give him half a grape or a blueberry a day instead. I know that raisins can be harmful to dogs and cats but didn’t know about bunnies. Has anyone else heard of that?

They haven’t got a clue why, but there are many cases where raisins and grapes have killed dogs and cats. Since they do not know if it’s an ingredient, a toxin or a mold-I stopped feeding them just to be safe, for them and for my dog (who has bunny poo snacks). There are no grapes or raisins allowed in my house; however I have not heard once that raisins aren’t safe for bunnies, but given that they don’t know why they aren’t safe for dogs and cats I just don’t give them anymore. Cranberries are just as easy to come by

Wait, is this same thing supposed to be true for craisins? Or is this just raisins made from grapes?

Or is it the ones made with un-natural sweeteners? I know on my craisins bag and my raisins box it says the only ingredients are the fruit themselves. BUT when I was at my grandmas this week I asked her for raisins and hers had sugar coating and the grapes werent the only ingredient so I just didn’t give them to the buns.

tanlover — since craisins are from cranberries and raisins are from grapes, I don’t think you have to worry about craisins.
