basically no matter how much i brush or lint roll little bun buns, using every possible tool on the market, the extra fur on his sides and butt and back never goes away. it then ends up all over his cage, and evidently all over my floor, my stuff, and me. I know that the fur is excess because he is a black rabbit (except the bottoms of his feet and a spot on his chin) and his “skirt” around his butt is a light gray color, and a different texture.

Basically i need to know whether all rabbits have this, and if i can do anything to help reduce the amount that gets in the air, and in my room. what are the best type of brushes? etc.

        Thanks

What type of fur does your bun have?

I find the absolute best trick to pick up all that loose fluff is, after brushing (the best brush to use depends on the type of fur), wet your hands, shake off the excess water and smooth your hands all over bun, under the belly, everywhere. All the loose fur will stick to your hands and then rub them together to roll up the fur and toss it away. The damp fur won’t fly all over. Make sure not to get bunny too wet.

I also use the damp hands trick to collect fur off blankets and mats in my buns’ condos between washes.

he is a dwarf lionhead, and his fur is really soft and somewhat long around his head and butt. another problem is that he doesn’t really enjoy being touched on his stomach, and thats where a lot of his fur comes from. i’ve tried bunny swaddling, but as he has gotten older he doesn’t liked to be flipped over much.

This isn’t my rabbit, and this rabbit is much furrier, but you kinda get the idea.

Most bunnies look pretty rough when they’re going through a shed – not much you can do beyond keep brushing them and pick up what fur you can. Neither of my bunnies will let me touch their stomachs, so I leave that area alone and focus on brushing what I can.

I have a black bun as well and sympathize with you. When I see that my bunny is shedding or molting, I take her into the bathroom, put a towel on the floor, put her on it, and pluck the loose furs of. You will be surprised to see that there is fur already growing back underneath! Some bunnies are year long shedders, some are every few months.

Bindi looks like a stray cat that gets into fights right now. He’s got bald spots all over and all different lengths of growth. The poor guy. He looks pretty disheveled. I guess he wants a brand new fur coat for Christmas.
