Basically I always pick my bunny up and she likes a good head scratch but sometimes she just flips out and jumps away resulting in scratches EVERYWHERE. It depends on her mood really but sometimes when I go to pick her up I put my hands over her tummy and she stays there sort of waiting but when I put it over her bum to scoop her if I don’t do it fast enough she GOES CRAZY shes runs around my room jumps over things runs into her cage runs around the room again like 3 times and then runs towards me and starts licking my knees/where ever my skin is exposed making honking noises. I don’t know whether she’s pissed off or over the moon o.O Anyones buns do this??

          Hey there!

Most buns do not like to be picked up. Many of them will stay perfectly still which you may think means they like it. It’s actually a tactic buns use to keep predators from thinking they are alive. It is incredibly rare to find a bun who likes to be picked up actually! I would recommend only picking her up if it is necessary.

The running thing usually indicates a happy bun. I’ve a lazy boy who rarely does his laps unless it’s super early in the morning. Licking is also a sign the bunny likes and respects you, so it seems you are doing a good job

What about nudging? I know it can be a sign of “hey, get out of my way”, but Finn did it this morning while I was trimming the hedgehog’s nails and it seemed more like “Hey, what are you up to?”. He seemed very curious in what I was doing… I’m thinking it’s because I was sitting on the floor, and I rarely do.

My Lola hates (haaaaaaateeeesss!) her belly touched and will flip out when I touch her there. I’ve tried to get her used to it but it just seems to be her little quirk that she isn’t going to ever get over so I just avoid touching her stomach. Maybe that’s what is going on with Wolfie when you touch his bum?

Also, the only time when Lola honks or grunts is when you are pestering her on the floor and lightly make thumping noises on the ground or are touching her whiskers – I think she kinda loves/hates it and it’s similar to rough-housing with a dog….you are irritating them just enough that it’s still playful and not mean. If that makes sense?

Sounds like Wolfie just has a little personality and a strong bun-opinion on what he does and doesn’t wat you to do to me.
