I purchased the pet bed from the binkybunny store. He likes it fine, maybe too much. He excessively licks it. I haven’t seen the bed “shed” but I am paranoid it will and it will make him sick. What should I do? Take the bed away?

One of my rabbits loves licking his bed as well. In fact, he loves licking everything – clothes, the floor, furniture. It is normal for some bunnies to be lickers, I think. Although it is a good idea to check to make sure nothing is coming off of the bed, like you have been doing.

I would check to make sure nothing is coming off but I know many buns are lickers. My girl would lick the crap out of the stuffed animal we gave her after her spay! I think as long as nothing is coming off and she’s not chewing the stuffing out of it, everything should be fine!

Thank you. I feel much better. I will keep checking. Yes, he is a chronic licker, fortunely, not much of a chewer.

Foo will lick everything when she is checking it out. She excessively licks anything that is remotely soft- blankets, clothes, towels, stuffed animals, etc. Totally normal.

My bunny Vivian loves to lick her bed (same as the one you have. I am not sure if because of the furry type of bed it is that is brings out some of the grooming instincts in some bunnies or what. Vivian has also licked her toy bunny. The toy, like the bed does minimal shedding, which is part of the reason I chose that bed for the store. You can pull on the fibers and they don’t come out that easily. Another way to insure the any loose fibers are out is to wash the bed. Vivian is a big hay eater and she has never had a problem with gi stasis due to licking the bed or her toy bunny. Of course, it’s always smart to just keep an eye on bunny poos and make sure the gi tract is moving normally in cases like this.

My Bridge bunny Stormy had a pillow licking addiction. It was so funny. He would lick until the pillow was soaked and then you`d take him away from it and he would try to go back.
