I’m wondering how flexible, I guess, rabbits are? I have a little boy bunny that I’ve had for a while now. I’ve been working with handling and what not and we’d gotten to a point where he was on with me picking him up and some petting.

Well today when I got him out he decided to throw a temper tantrum and I tried to hold him still until at least we got to the couch (per-say our the routine) when I sat on the couch he started wiggling a whole bunch and I think I squeezed him to hard or he moved just right…I’m not sure but there was two pops (at first I thought I popped my finger in the commotion until the second popped and I heard it coming from his rear) I immediately put him down and he ran around like normal and acted like nothing happened.

I’m paranoid though and wanna ask if there’s anything serious that could of happened or if it’s imperative that I get him to a vet ASAP

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Ps: I’m Sarah AND my bunny is Roland.

          Welcome to BB.

If he’s eating, pooping and running around like normal, I wouldn’t worry. But in the future, never try to restrain a rabbit like that because they can get very injured. You have to remember how frightening it is for a prey animal to be held and restrained. Most bunnies hate being held, some will tolerate it at best.

If you’re worried about him, it may be a good excuse to go for a general check up at the vet, maybe get his nails trimmed while you’re there, make sure his teeth are fine and just tell her what you heard so she’ll examine him for any irregularities. It sounds like he’s OK, but we tend to wait with bunnies, so if you get him seen you won’t need another visit for a while, hopefully.

It is true that they do not like to be picked up or held, and they can damage themselves (severely at times) so you must let him go right away when he struggles. Just don’t let him fall from a height. He will rarely sit in your lap, or stay there, but you can let him play on the couch with you on it and many bunnies will settle down next to you for the companionship, even if not totally on you. He needs to feel safe around you, not afraid he will be grabbed hard. (I know it’s kind of hard to let go since they are so soft and cuddly.)

This was more of a bunny fit because I let him out late.

I know that bunnies don’t like to be held but I still think it’s necessary so they don’t freak out if you have to hold them in an emergency or for a vet. I by no means hold my bunny down for 10minutes nor I don’t immediately start restraining them and it was a long time before this guy trusted me to pick him up.

Now he does though and we have a pattern that he has to be carried to the couch so he gets more familiar with it and gets used to being moved while carried.

Yesterday he just decided he wanted to go straight to playing and didn’t want to behave and so yes I held him still for a minute until I heard the popping.(opps)

It was purely deliberate disobedience and I was not being violent with the bunny.

This is actually not my first bunny (8th) just the first one I’ve had pop..
