What breed is Bilbo?

Bilbo is 12-13weeks old and is definately a lop but is he a dwarf lop or french lop? He’s 2.15kg!!

Dwarf Lops get around 5.5 – 6.5 lbs fully grown, french lops get about 11 lbs fully grown. You most likely have a french lop since he’s only 12-13 weeks old and already weighs 4.7 lbs. :]

I wouldn’t use the weight to decide on a breed. The breed weights are ideals and really are for deciding who wins competitions at rabbit shows….i.e. a certain breed who does not match the ideal weight for that breed would either not do well or not be allowed to show. It’s not that a ‘x’ type of rabbit can only be between x-y weight range, it’s that if they are going to show and represent x breed than they need to be between x-y weight range. It’s like saying if a person is 120lbs it must be a female. Sure probably or could be a teenager or a slim male
Your picture is small but I’d say likely not a french lop they have distinct face-could be a mix, but it’s hard to tell from the picture.

@Kokaneeandkahlua: Weight is just to give a general idea of which breed it is. A Dwarf lop generally will not weigh over 11 lbs at 13 weeks- just like a fully grown french lop will generally not be smaller than 6 lbs. There are certain characteristics each breed has, the buns weight is part of that. Dog breeds is a good example. Generally French Bulldogs are around 25 lbs; there are exceptions but its a general rule that most will weigh around 25 lbs.

Also if you look at her youtube channel, you can get a better glimpse at her (adorable) bun and it seems to have the french lop face you mention. Might be a mix, but most likely a french lop mix if anything. :]
