Okay, I know this sounds like a silly question, and it probably is.

But it randomly occurred to me – how exactly do you scoop poop and pee from a bunny’s box? The little poops are too small to get scooped by the usual litter scooper, and pee would be impossible since you want to avoid a clumping litter.

I want to use wood stove pellets as litter, which I’ve read will crumble when exposed to moisture. It sounds like you would have to completely dump it or something in order to get rid of the waste.

Or am I totally missing something? Lol.

I used to use “Yesterday’s News” as litter (she ate too much so I had to switch, but a lot of rabbit owners use it and it’s just fine). I’m not sure how our little guy is but Ruby picks a side/corner of the litter box that she prefers so it’s usually in 1 or 2 places that need to be scooped. I would clear out the pee every 1-2 days and then completely change everything once a week. Especially if they are young it’s okay to leave some poop in there for a few days because they learn where it belongs. This litter is also good because it’s made of recycled paper so you can actually see which parts have urine in them and which don’t

I just dump out the whole box when its potty cleaning time. No scooping necessary.

I use wood stove pellets and I dump the entire contents every 3-4 days. You will only need to put down a thin amount of pellets into the litter box as the litter puffs up with urine.

Oh okay that’s a good tip. I was hoping to save litter by not dumping until necessary. We’ll probably do that, though.
