Maple and Potamus are to be spayed later today. Please wish them luck!
Jersey was the last girl-bun I got spayed and that was over 4 years ago. I'm feeling nervous about it to tell the truth. I hope they do well.
Some snaps I took yesterday when I put them outside for exercise and a change of scenery.

Wait, clearly I don't come to the lounge enough - when did you get two more?! They are freaking adorable! I also love the name Potamus. I call Otto "Otter-potamus" for whatever weird reason, so I think it's really cute. Good luck on the spay! Sending healthy spay vibes your way. |

Hi all, The girls are doing... Ok. I'd like to see more activity but maybe it's too early for that yet. They're both so quiet, staying in one spot, not eating or toileting. Making me nervous! Maple seems to be taking it in her stride.Potamus went into cardboard box when I got them home and hasn't budged. Very unusual for her. She looked 'bewildered' & i feel so bad. Jersey was bopping around at 5am after her spay. These 2 aren't doing as well in comparison to her but probably doing as expected judging from others accounts posted on BB. Thanks for the wishes and vibes everyone. @Elrohwen: There's some background on these 2 in this thread. http://www.binkybunny.com/FORUM/tab...fault.aspx Potamus was named so because if her growth rate. I initially though it was due to her being part giant breed but in hindsight, it was probably because she was the only kit so had all the milk to herself. Her weight is around 5lb, maybe bit under so I'm not certain on her mix anymore. Very cute that little Otto is Potamus too! Tiniest, fluffiest, loppiest hippo ever! Lol |

Awwww, I think you're probably just being a worrisome bunny momma! Aren't we all?!? Have either of them eaten anything since their spay? I'd only begin to worry if it's been 24 hours with no food or poops. I'm sure you know, given all the knowledge you have of buns! Sending more healing vibes though! |

That's it exactly tanlover! haha My head says "this is normal" and my heart and stress levels are not listening. I think both girls are just still woozy from the anaesthetic. |

Hooray! The girls are finally eating. I've been so worried. It's taken 2 days! But things are finally moving. Still too slow for my liking but at least their tums are working. I'm going to sleep tonight. |

I was just coming on to update. I've been slack... All is well! Maple came good by the next day. They now have the appetites they had pre-spay. Maple has also stopped squawking which she began again in the last few months. She'd been acting more fearful and pouncing at me also. I believe her hormones were raging because Potamus's hormones had arrived. So Maple is now loving pets again. She still runs when I go near her but comes back out once initial fear has past. I was hopeful she'd come back to her true nature but wasn't expecting it so quickly. Very happy. : ) Potamus is doing great too and seems content. Still a young girl though so up to a bit of mischief. @Aria and Circe: thanks : ) Maple is around 2 1/2 years old and Potamus (the "baby") is 7 1/2 months. Good to hear your girls recovered well. They have such pretty names. |
