This morning, I had gone out to pick up a couple bunnies that another RA member is going to foster. On my way to drop them off, I got a call from my husband.. poor Simon was having a seizure. SO he rushed Simon to the vet, where I met him. Simon is still there, the vet is keeping him for the day to watch him and treat as needed. He wasn't moving at all, but breathing very fast, and has a fever. I hope he pulls through... he's such a sweet boy, and deserves to get an awesome home.

I'm so mad at the shelter that he came from. 3 of the 4 rabbits we got from them have had major health problems.. one died, another went to the vet yesterday for stasis, and now Simon... ugh. I'm so tempted to call them and tell them where to stick it.

But please... Simon can use as many vibes as can be sent to him. Poor boy

I'm so sorry I didn't see this sooner. You made his last days enjoyable MB. The binkies were evidence of that. I agree that something is fishy about that shelter.

RIP little Simon.

i posted about it in the Rainbow Bridge thread.. I should have linked it here, but didn't think of it.

Yes, our sweet Simon passed early this afternoon. I am glad I was able to give him a name, and a good loving home for his last few days. I am getting him cremated, and will get his ashes next week. I'll keep them until we get a house, then I will plant a rosebush in the garden over his ashes. He deserves a nice resting place after all he went through.

I miss him already! I didn't have him long, but it's weird now, not hearing him toss his pellet bowl around and rip his cardboard house to shreds. He was a little goofball, and so sweet. loved his pets and snuggles.

Oh no! I'm so sorry to hear monkeybun.
It was supposed to be a new beginning for him. I can understand why you're feeling the way you are.

The use of Frontline has come up a lot recently. Do you think the shelter could have treated them before releasing them?

I'm really sorry. I'm glad he got to know some caring, bunloving humans though, as he deserved.

No, the shelter did nothing for these buns. Didn't even give them much for hay.. just "once in awhile" and never cut their nails. Chances are, they wouldn't think to treat for fleas and such.

I'm so sorry. That is so very sad. I'm also glad that he had a home for his last few days. That's a nice idea about the rosebush.

Does the vet have any idea what was wrong?
