Mimzy you have a turtle too! =] We had saved a turtle from the road and she was so small we couldn't leave her for the birds to eat. We live in an area that is a bird sanctuary so there's a ton around. She's an extremely common turtle that is legal to have as a pet so we kept her in a small fish tank. A few years later she's huge and about the same size as Skipper. ;P

I came down with a cold. It started with swollen lymph nodes and when I was about to go to bed, I felt the sneezing and runny nose coming on. How my ears are plugged. I have not done any sort of homework all day because I have been resting. But my body needs all the rest that it can so I can have my strength back to do my homework tomorrow!

I've been in bed all day, drinking liquids and eating soup, some NyQuil is not bad either, lol.

Fun fact: You can kill cockroaches by mixing sugar and baking soda together. they eat it and it explodes in their bellies. I used to sprinkle it on dishes when I was too lazy to do them when I was living on a state park

Fun fact #2: Turtle eggs can't boil, and people use them in cakes because the cake won't spoil as fast as cakes with chicken eggs. That's why people used to harvest sea turtle eggs back in the day.

Skipper what kind of turtle do you have? i'm assuming it's a water turtle. I have a red eared slider I got before I knew they were invasive. She's pretty cool. I was talking to a lady at the vet office who said she "rescued" a baby soft shell and raised it, then put it back in the wild. I didn't have the heart to tell her she probably killed that poor turtle by feeding it from a young age. She legit thought she was doing something good :/

Today has been a busy day! I took Finn's halloween pictures, and put the hedgehog in some of them. my computer charger died so I drove half an hour to the apple store to buy a new one just to find out really my computer wouldn't take a charge so I spent $80 for nothin'! I got my hurr did for the first time in ages (ombre for those interested). oh, and facebook drama has torn a bunch of friendships apart.
a derby league mate of mine posted a poorly worded opinion on a popular political topic. It escalated into an argument between her friends and her derby friends. In the end she decided to delete the 50 something derby girls off of facebook since "she keeps offending us". None of us were offended by her opinion.... just how it was worded. All of us worded our responses very respectfully and her friends were attacking us and saying rude things. It made for a very awkward night at practice and now people who were never in the original discussion are offended and upset by her actions. We're not sure if she's going to quit or what because everyone feels like she owes us an apology. At any rate, she was supposed to watch Finn when I went out of town but now I don't want her to so I have to find someone new. ugh.

its illegal to touch the wild tortoises here cause they'll pee in fright and that might be the only moisture in their body for months at a time

I used to have two greek land tortoises. They had been living at the only "proper" zoo in Norway (the animals are very well taken care of), but they decided they weren't going to have them anymore, and the chef at the ship where my dad worked (he's a captain in the Northern sea), bought them from the zoo. I don't know where the zoo got them from, but I think they were saved from a bad home. They were both disformed due to calcium deficiency we believe. One had a massive undershot/protrusion (?), like when the lower jaw is further out than the top jaw. The other one was shaped like a heart!
I loved them, but I was too young (12) to give them the proper care, and my parents were very ignorant to tortoises. We had them for about 1,5-2 years until we gave them away to a friend of my mother (who I now know is totally irresponsible), but I don't think she has them any more :/ Would love to know what happened to them..

SkippersMama -- that's awful. Every one makes comments about me hanging on a bunny forum to but I'm always like whateverrrr. Rabbits are hard to care for animals. Anyone who has a rabbit understands... and no one understands why I'm so obsessed with my buns but it's partially because you have to be! They're so sensitive (stomachs) and you have to form a bond with them to really be able to enjoy them... My boyfriend always picks on me about how often I'm on here but he's constantly coming on my account and looking at the forums and such too! And he thinks it's good that I'm so in tune with the buns and making sure they are getting what they need. Plus, he told me the number one rule of forums is people HATE when you ask a ton of questions but then never help others out about the things you've learned. And since I'm always asking questions, answering and commenting gives me a LOGICAL reason to always be on here! I love BB! And I'm totally not embarrassed by how much I'm on here either! I tell everyone! Hahahaha. She sounds like a very ignorant person, about everything not just animals. I hate people like that.

Peppy -- I LOVE that pic too! My buns will only come up to strangers if they have craisins or nibble rings! Hahahahaha. Except Tanger. He's too curious to not check someone out when he sees them.

Mimzy -- Awwww, the poor little guy! It's always hard bringing animals into your home and seeing how the other ones react. 4 dogs is a lot! I so wish we could have dogs at our place! We want a little one sooo bad.

Hope you feel better, ChaCha! I just came down with my SECOND case of the shingles in less than a year -- and it SUCKS. My whole body feels so achy and it feels like sharp needles poking you in the spot where the rash comes. Ugh, sucks sooo bad. And having to work makes it even worse!

Zoologist -- I hate having friend issues! It really sucks. I just decided not to be friends with my best friend of 5 years a couple of weeks ago and I feel so lonely now... but I feel like it's for reasons I have to stick up for myself on. I've been trying to befriend people at work but it's really not going well... the two people I've been trying the hardest with -- something always comes in the way. I've invited them over to hang out a million times and they never will, we've hung out a few times but it's only going to dinner and drinks. They'll never just come to hang out and you know, do girly things! Idk why. But then half the time we make plans to do other things and they'll cancel out on that too... soo idk.

Can't wait to see Finn's pictures either! And I've also been meaning to do something different with my hair, I always do layers... but I've been doing it like ALL my life. I have long and really dark brown hair. Isn't FF a hairstylist? If I remember correctly? Maybe she'll have some ideas for us!

So excited - sooooo Fleury (my boy who has been having litter box issues) came hopping out of his cage today for play time and I said Fleury, Litter! And he hopped right in his box and peed! SUCH A PROUD, HAPPY BUNNY MOMMA TODAY! I feel so much more accomplished now that our issues are being solved in a healthy way for him and us! And he's back to being his loving HOOMANS self... which makes me even happier. He was becoming so distant from us. I'm so proud of him!

So I have to go home for Christmas -- only for a day or two -- but we've decided to bring the bunnies with us! We hadn't planned on it before and wasn't really sure what we were going to do because Sidney was so skittish but since her spay she's been GREAT and has really come out of her shell. She's still really skittish of other people but really is so much better and trusting so we've made the decision to take them with us rather than depending on someone else to take care of them for us. We only have one person who we trust to take care of them and they go away every Christmas for a week so I know she wouldn't be around. When the time comes, I'm sure I'll be asking everyone a BUNCH of questions and thoughts on the process. Im happy that we're not leaving them though! When we left for vacation, I knew it was the right decision, but I was leaving them with someone who is very rabbit-savvy since her son has a rabbit and she does volunteer work with rabbits but even then I had to have updates EVERY day and was worried but happy...

Peppy that's cool. That's a field that's not going to die anytime soon. Well die is a bad word... Anywhoo cute pic! I could see Bunjamin doing that. Anything on the floor or near the floor is his

TL that's exciting! My family loves bunjamin. And I'm sure they'll start loving new bun too once they meet her.

Skipper. I wanna punch that girl but I'm proud of you for not doing so. You can't win with people like that. Best thing to do is avoid them as much as possible. Really deep down her picking on you is she is probably jealous of you or has a major insecurity issues.

I was so excited last night. We moved in August and the city we moved to has a produce market! It's like 10 minutes away and has so many veggies and fruits. They looked so much better than the regular grocery store. I got 4 heads of lettuce, 3 bushels of cilantro, 1 bushel of parsley, and 3 apples for about $6.50.

ChaCha I hope you feel better! Sleep and rest up. =]

Zoologist that is probably the number one reason as to why I am never on my Facebook. It just starts drama and is silly. I hope you find someone to watch your bun! I know it can be nerve wracking not knowing what is going to happen to them.

Tanlover I'm glad Fleury is doing better! =]

Thanks guys for being so sweet! It really helps me feel better. I do have something funny though that happened this morning.

I had Skipper out for her morning run and she wanted pets. Well, while she's running around I sit on the floor with her and put on my makeup with a little hand mirror. She decided she wanted pets so I put my makeup aside and start petting her. I finally told her I had to stop so I can finish getting ready. She stares at me for a few good seconds before turning to my book that I have lying next to me. She deliberately looks me and then the book and at me again. She stretches her little mouth forward and starts nibbling at the book basically saying with her eyes, "You made me do this". xD She's so silly and naughty. So of course I start petting her again and she stops the mischief.

Zoologist I forgot to add earlier. I'm honestly not sure. It's hard to place her. But she looks like the turtles that are sold in the Petco near us. My theory is that the two turtles that my bf and his sister had as kids that had escaped from the pond in their backyard had gone to the pond behind the house and bred back there to make Frankie. =p Or maybe I'm just being silly.

FF that sounds like a good deal. =]

TL I thought I might be able to save this book from her but she was insistent on ruining it.

Mama, post a pic! I was on a turtle forum for yearsss and worked at a marine science center so I'm pretty well versed in florida turtles

I start my master naturalist class today. HOORAY! I don't know what to wear :/

Also I'm frustrated with Finn. He was doing really well with the litter box for one day. Just one. Then I cleaned it and now it's back to being a bed. He's taken to peeing on the towel I put next to the litter box to discourage him from peeing in that spot >_< it worked for a day... ugh.

oh, and I found my local pet feed store is about 5 miles from my house. I went out there last night and they carry SO MANY OXBOW PRODUCTS! And they're cheaper than petsmart, so I'm very excited! They have GINORMOUS bags of hay.

Zoologist I'll have to do that. =p She's really big now since we've had her a few years. She was about the size of a silver dollar when we found her. She was out in the road and my bf had almost ran over her just thinking she was a leaf. Good thing he didn't! How in the world did you find a turtle forum? I feel kind of bad because I'm not too sure as to what sort of care I should be giving Frankie since I can't pinpoint what type she is and there isn't much information on turtles. We are talking about trying to get her a bigger tank and building an area with some sand/plants so it's just not all water with some rocks. But we're having issues trying to find a nice high powered pump that will keep her water clean all the time. Maybe once you cleaned the litter box it was too clean? Like the smell of his urine was erased and forgot what it was supposed to be used for?

I'm back home (at my parents), seing we got a long weekend off school. First time i've been home for more than a day since August. Don't have to go back to school until Thursday I live about 1,5-2 hours away (depending on traffic). I braught Bosse with me He did great in the car, but he took forever to even venture out of his travel cage after we got home. When he got out, he barely looked around befor he went back in. I hope he'll like the habitat we made him haha, it's so.. homemade, lol. I'll post a pic later in the picture chat. Currently we're just leaving him alone, to let him get used to his new habitat.

I'm babysitting my little sister atm, it's like I never left haha.

I actaully don't mind being away from home I wish I missed it haha. I'm kinda just home to see my little sister, and because my mom has been asking me to get home for ages, hehe. Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy it. It's just typical that when I fist get home, they take advantage of it and go out, instead of actually spending time with me. They are going out again tomorrow.
