SM- Pawpaw = Papaya. And they sniffed it nibbled it spat it out and looked at me like I was trying to poison them. Nikitasue, I know what you mean.. I have four little girls and I am dreading it, fate keeps delaying the process but I know it has to happen so that I can get Nermal rebonded and let them have free range in the lounge off their bunny room. Plus the health concerns of not neutering. I am going to get each vet checked the week before hand. |

I'm sorry but I need to sort of vent and ask for some vibes. Today was absolutely horrible and stressful. I woke up this morning and took Skipper out for her morning run. She was active like normal but her stomach was gurgling like crazy. I could hear it making so much noise I thought it was my stomach. So I called the vet and asked them if I should take her in. They said just in case to see what is going on. They aren't open on Sunday's so I thought I should just take her in today just in case something serious happened tomorrow and there was nothing that I could do for her. So I pack Skipper up and make phone calls to the bf's family to see if one of them would come with me to Tampa. It's about an hour or more from were we moved to and I've never done the drive before. The bf always does it but he had work today and he wasn't able to take today off. After making phone calls and straightening things out with them I grab Skipper and put her in the car. I had given the bf my keys to unlock the car. He didn't realize you have to hit the unlock button twice on the car to completely unlock it. If you hit it once it automatically locks up the car after opening the car door. Skipper had been locked in the car with the keys! I was freaking out. I don't have a spare set of keys to my car. It was at the car dealership. I was supposed to pick them up months ago. I called the place and talked to the guy that sold me the car. He's real nice. I sent the bf up to there (it's about an hour away to and from) to get the keys. I was flipping out. I was just so thankful that it was cold today. If it was hot I would have busted open a window without a thought. I was pins and needles waiting for the bf to come back. Well, while the bf was gone to get the keys the Internet people came. Thankfully they were really sweet and set up the Internet and even tried unlocking my car. After all the stress of getting locked in the car I still had to bring Skipper to the vet. I took her to the vet and they said she was in the first stages of GI distress. They gave her Sub-Q fluids and some Metacam for me to give her. I was so upset when they brought her back from the fluid injections. I started crying. She was just so upset and the look she had on her face. We got home around eight tonight after all this and she's very lethargic. I'm scared to death that something is wrong with her. I'm just hoping that her tiredness is from getting no rest today. I really hope she gets better. I'm terrified for her well being. I have no clue what I would do if something happened to her. If she were spunkier I think I would feel ten times better. |

I'm so sorry, SkippersMama. I'm definitely sending some healing vibes and relaxing vibes to both you and Skipper. I don't know much of anything about GI distress so unfortunately I can't help you on that front but I'll definitely be sending lots of vibes and keeping you both in my thoughts! You both definitely had a stressful day so hopefully after some rest and meds she'll begin coming around again. Even though she's not spunky as usual -- she's probably just using her energy to get healthy so think of it in a positive way. <3 |

Aww, poor Skipper! I hope she is doing better now. =( Today was interesting to say the least. I was at work for a good portion of the day. Nothing out of the ordinary happened, except I found out a certain someone had just quit. Remember the position I was upset about? Yep, that's the one. |

Hugs SM, Healing vibes to little Skipper, I am sure he will be fine once he has had a day to settle. Mean while a whopping thunderstorm has just rolled in and I think it might be prudent to shut down the computer and batten down the hatches. I am not a fan of storms after loosing the ceiling back in June and Pepper hates them too, I am surprised she's not thumping yet to demand I join them in the bungalow for safety. |

Oh gee, best wishes for Skipper To everyone in the eastern US: stay safe!! Is anyone else's bun super plush lately? Peppy has finally grown in her winter coat and she's soooo soft I can't stop petting her! Not that she's complaining haha. On the down side, I'm not looking forward to the next shed... |

Good luck Skipper!! I'm getting excited, this time tomorrow I'll be home with my new bunnies. As my stepfather doesn't know about Loki we'll be saying we picked him up while we were there too. I spent most of today cutting out timber and what not for the new 2nd level in the big crate, unfortunately I don't have enough timber for the other support length so I won't be able to install it until next weekend. |

Thanks, Peppypoo! I have to go out tomorrow to stock up on veggies and extra hay, just in case! I'm so confused about my buns and their shedding. LOL. Tanger (the chocolate Tan) was shedding quite a bit and looked like the black Tans so much that we were having trouble figuring out who was who! But now Fleury is shedding quite a bit and sometimes in the right light looks almost like Tanger. So confusing. But they haven't had any BIG sheds. It seems they have just been shedding back and forth. But nothing toooo big. So confused about their shedding patterns/habits. Roberta, hope your storm was uneventful! Congrats, Toady!! New bunnies are always so exciting and fun! I think I'm addicted to the feeling of bringing a new bun home... all I can think about is NEW BUNNIESSSSS. Hahahahaha. As everyone in this thread is quite aware! SkippersMama -- I'm anxious to hear how Skipper is doing today! Let us know ASAP! I'm worried about you both! So excited for today. I spent all day yesterday cleaning the house and getting chores done since we had planned on going to the Football game today. But since it's supposed to rain all day and be in the low 40's we decided against going. So now I get to stay home and BB and read ALLLL day! And have extra bunny play time which is wonderful. My boyfriend always tells me I should do everything on Saturday so I have Sunday to relax and when I do -- he's totally right. I LOVE SUNDAAAAAYS!! So I'm worried about Tanger for sure now. We have figured out that it is DEFINITELY him having all the accidents inside the cage and he has lost his litter habits almost completely. His poos are EVERYWHEREEEE. Literally he's been leaving them everywhere. We are trying to figure out how to get a urine sample so we can take it into the vets office but it's so hard getting there during the week with us both working. He seems finally physically and mentally besides the lost litter box habits but he has REALLY lost them. So I'm starting to get worried. Since I've been reading that sometimes they can really hide any kind of bladder issues until the last second when they can become really lethargic within hours and die within 24. I've been keeping a close eye on him for sure. |

If I didn't get Chacha spayed, she would be a HUGE ball of hormones. Plus, I lost my mom to Ovarian Cancer, so I decided to get Chacha spayed when she turned 6 months of age. If the vet has never lost a rabbit, your bun is in good hands. The thought of my Chacha getting cancer made me really upset. Now, she is a big brat, and just plain territorial of her condo whenever she is in it LOL! Plus, no more spaying accidents! Those females CAN spray o_O
Cinnabun Mom and Skipper - Hahaha, not yet I will be taking Chacha to the shelter likely late 2013, early 2014. It will happen when the Mister and I move in together. IF she wants a friend that is! She has been a single gal for almost 3 years. The only thing that I worry about is if the boy or girl she chooses will chew on everything. Well, that is what stinky perfume on the carpet/baseboards and rabbit proofing are for Chacha is a free range bunny as she can be trusted She will continue to be when we move.
I wonder what kind of bunny she will choose. If she wants her friend to be white furred with red eyes, so be it! It isn't up to me, it is up to her.
UGH, I was playing games online and one of my clan members was drinking so I began to drink too. I was supposed to work at 9:30 this morning, but in-between the time that I crashed on my bed, I ended up throwing up and stumbling to the kitchen for water . I'm kind of disappointed in myself and I called in sick at work. I never call in sick, unless I am sick with a cold, but stupid me, lol! My dad got me some powerade this morning and made me a burger. I am so hungry that I am eating everything in sight Now I want Mexican food. |

Pheww, it's been an intense weekend! Pulled an all-nighter on Thursday to study for my crazy 4.5-hour exam on Friday, then went to a Halloween bar party on Friday night and stayed up until 2:30am. Going for 40+ hours without sleep doesn't feel that great...so I stayed in bed until 3pm on Saturday and took the rest of the day off as a post-test reward to myself. But it's back to working/studying today...SIGH.
I was thinking the other day that it's already been almost a year since Milo crossed the bridge, and I'd love to adopt another friend for Peppy. The thing is, Peppy and I have a nice agreement worked out (I let her free-roam and in return she doesn't destroy everything/pee everywhere), and I don't know if I have time to go through it all over again with another bunny. I do very much miss having two bunnies though...see pictures of pairs makes me really want another! |

Thanks everyone for your concern. =] It really helps. We're monitoring Skips. She's a baffling little thing. She's eating like there's no tomorrow but her poos won't stay a constant size and they're not as frequent as normal. Her tummy has stopped gurgling and its not as hard as it was before. So I'm hoping whatever she had has passed now. The poor bf is worried about her and passed out on the carpet next to her cage. We both haven't been sleeping well and get up at all hours of the night to check up on her. I hope everyone had a nice weekend! Tanlover I'm sorry to hear about Tanger! Is there any way that your vet can get the urine sample if you can't? I really hope he's okay! Toady that's so exciting that you're getting new buns! Roberta hope everything was fine after the storm! You have my sympathies. I hate thunderstorms. They freak me out so bad.

Urine sample, hmm, what about putting something non-absorbent in the litter box? Just as long as the bunnies don't eat whatever it is. I've heard of people doing that for a cat. Like buying the plastic beads you stuff stuffed animals with and putting them in the litter box instead of litter. Kitty pees and you just pour out the pee. I'd be afraid that a bunny would eat that though. Oh wait, what about a litter screen and no litter? |

HI All, Storm rumbled around for several hours but there was no wind or lightning of consequence just a few mild showers.... TL, Urine samples... Had to do this for one of my cats. The beads in a screened litter pan sounds like the best option or how about getting a normal litter tray with something perforated (that will only let the urine through) midway keep the bottom half empty and the top covered in hay. |

LBJ10, your dog sounds so cute! I had to trim my bunny's fur regularly too, so I feel your pain. It just kept growing! Skipper's mama, I hope Skipper gets back to normal soon! TL, good luck getting that urine sample! LoveChaCha, hope you feel better, ChaCha must have been so displeased with you And yay for Mexican, my favorite! It's so hard to find a good Mexican restaurant though |

Ughhh SO MUCH SNOW!!!!!!!! It started snowing here Thursday, but barely any so I wasnt worried about it. But then I woke up Sunday morning and we got about 4 inches overnight! So I had to shovel our driveway with this half broken shovel because everywhere is sold out in town! and then this morning I was running late so I didnt look outside, until I ran out 10 minutes before I had to leave for work to start my car... and there was a foot of snow! I was so late for work, just from sweeping my car off. And of course it's still snowing like crazy so I don't even want to think about how much snow I'll have to shovel tonight I like snow, but this hit so early that half the town has no winter tires on. AND it's not even Halloween yet! reminds me of when I was a kid and was trick-or-treating in a snowsuit |

So I wanted to give you all an update. Skipper is much better. She's attacking her veggies again. Seeing her eat them this morning really made me go, "Ah-ha". She hadn't attacked her food with that much umph in the past week or so. Honestly since we moved. I'm wondering if feeding her at different times can affect her digestive system. When we moved her feeding times got sort of screwed. I hope everyone is doing well and the crazy weather isn't affecting one negatively! |

Yay for Skipper! Glad to hear she's on her veggies like usual. Thanks for all the good lucks, guys! Anyone know how long urine samples can sit in the fridge before needing to be used?? We won't be able to take the sample in until next Tuesday unfortunately but he's been looking fine so I'm not too worried and we've been keeping an eye on him quite vigorously. He seems fine though and if anything does come up quickly then we'll of course take him in. His litter box habits have been good today so hopefully it's nothing serious or IS just behavioral. I'd rather have a bratty bunny than a sick bunny any day! The buns are lucky I'm such a good bunny slave for them! I walked 45 minutes in the rain and high gusts of wind to get them some extra hay and veggies just in case anything went out and the pet store wasn't open for a few days. AND I even got them some treat hay! Their favorite -- oat hay -- and some botantical which we've never tried before with them! We decided to just go ahead and order the 50 lb. bag of Oxbow Orchard Grass. Finally took everyones advice on buying bigger quantities for much less! Before we were paying about $3 a lb. and now we're paying a little over $1 lb! Yay for saving money on bun buns! We are quite excited to see this bag. As is the small pet store we buy from! They've never had a big order of the Oxbow bags either! |

Ok the storm was a little scary but the power is still on and the tree is still standing which means so far so good. The buns were upset all day though because of it and i don't blame them. I'm have a problem with one of the babies. The runt. She is super tiny which i haven't been too concerned about since she has always been the smallest one but now I'm starting to notice where the other ones are getting some fat and fluff on them she is still very skinny and her skin is very lose. I think she is just so docile and submissive that she isn't getting as much food. The other babies are insane and aggressive but she is just fine munch for awhile. Oreo is the same way but oreo somehow figures out how to get enough from the insane white ones. I'm starting to think she might not be too bright. I seperated her and she definaly has an appetite but it took her like 20 min to eat one leaf. She just eats sooo slow. |

The poor baby girl! Please save her Nikita. I promise once you get some nutrients into her she'll pep right up. We had to do that with our cat Haru. She was the runt of her litter. I would see if there is any way you can make sure that the runt has some milk from the mom. Maybe let her feed and divert the others from her. I'm not sure if feeding her kitten formula would help either. =/ |

Thats what i was thinking. I was thinking that after every meal I might just give her some alone time to eat her own breakfasts and dinners and take her time. The other babies just walk all over her. She's got alot of oreo in her, oreo is very docile and slow moving and she is the same way. |

Hi Nikita, Are they all weened..?. If not they should still be having the odd suckle up to 6-8 weeks and you can use that to your advantage. I had to little ones that weren't growing as quickly, mainly due to some of the others being much bigger and dominant, so I would wait until Pepper was ready to give them a snack (to make them fat and sleepy so they'd leave her alone) then I would scoop up the little ones and hold them under her so they got in first and had a full feed. Pepper was an excellent Mum and was feeding them a couple of times a day (she was getting unlimited food and pampering herself so there was no shortage of milk, she was like a furry house brick with teets) |

@Tanlover, for cats/dogs anyway the sample usually has to be from the night before, at the latest, but you can always call your vet and just double check because it may be different |

I wish I could do that. Oreo wont let me near her when she is nursing. She gets as far away as possible and gets really spooked if i get near her but yes she is also nursing a couple times a day. I haven't seen too much trouble with the runt not getting milk. But I think oreo is starting to wean because she only can stand nursing now for a min or two. Is there any kind of food thats high in calories that would help her gain weight? And should I be able to see testicles yet? I find it really hard to believe that I have four girls but I've checked a couple times. |

I haven't been on here in a while! I wanted to do the costume contest but my boyfriend and I have been having a little trouble lately and I've just been so exhausted and just kept putting it off I got her a costume but I decided I don't really like it after all! Oh well I think the contest at her vet's office is still going on though. Might do that one! Nikita - Good luck with the runt! I'm sure it will pull through I've never dealt with litters of any kind so I am of no help But I do hope for the best! |

Hi Nikita, Being prey animals they don't nurse for very long. A minute or so would be normal. The babies are designed to fill up fast. Could you get some supplement from your vet and give the runt a little extra. Also if they are weaning they should be eating pellets by now. Unlimited pellets for the babies won't hurt at this age. |

Yea they have unlimited pellets and I just raised the vegetable amount as well. It was too funny. I wanted to try some different kinds of veggies today so i added apples and bell peppers instead of the usual carrots and celery and all the buns ate the pasley just fine but refused to even try the peppers and apple bites except for the runt. and then they saw her enjoying them and they all dove in. But oreo is still throwing a temper tantrum because I've been out of kale for a couple days and she is mad cause thats all she likes. ugh she is such a sore sport. I can try to find some supplements for the little runt to see if that helps. But yea they are eating everything and eating as bout as much as there mother does. |
