Lol Thumper and Oreo are both three pounds but I was told that while oreo is nursing that she is supposta get as much as she wants. And it's not like she is eating only pellets, she is just plain inhaling everything. She drinks 32oz of water in two days right now. But she isn't gaining any weight. The babies sure are though. Plus since I started her on veggies she has slowed down a little with the pellets. Now she is eating about a cup a day. AND HER HAY THING IS EMPTY AGAIN! this bun is gonna run me bankrupt!

I would reduce Thumpers down to 1/8 then and see if that makes him eat more hay. That could just be the problem -- he's just filling up on pellets and is uninterested in the hay because of it. Definitely keep her at all she can eat though! She sounds like a vacuum with that hay though!

Simon's neuter is on Monday morning. The vet will check him over at the same time. I do love that the vets here often give RA free neuters for the foster buns

Speaking of pellets, does anyone here give their bunnies a pellet-free diet? From the start I have felt like I shouldn't be feeding Harry pellets, beside his hay and lovely green veg they just look so artificial and unnecessary. But he clearly loves them.. I have been thinking of giving them just every other day and increasing his veg on the other days. But it needs a lot of thought and I want to make sure my little bun is getting everything he needs.

Well pellets have a lot of the vitamins they need. And they are made from compressed hay. I wouldn't take him off pellets unless your vet recommends it. I know a few members have their buns on pellet-less diets but that was after vet recommendation.

I feel responsible today. I decided to do my accounting homework instead of painting my nails or shopping. I know it sounds silly but I've been trying to spend my break on Thursday afternoons doing stuff for me. I wasn't giving myself enough "me" time and i would feel so run-down. I probably sound crazy but having thursday afternoons to do something for myself was nice. But I gave it up this week because I know my weekend is super busy.

I have a fundraiser for GLRS this Saturday, a Halloween party, and then a fundraiser for RASA Sunday. OH and I'm very excited tomorrow is my bunnies day. Sweets is going to my vet that I love. I can't wait to get her "cleared" for reals so I can finally introduce her to Bunjamin. And Bunjamin needs his nails trimmed. It's that dreaded time. :/

There is nothing wrong with feeding less pellets. As FrankieFlash stated, are like vitamins. However, too much can cause obesity and a rabbit can have a hard time eating its cecals because it cannot reach for them.

My little lady (who is 4 pounds) gets less than a tablespoon a day, fills up on hay 24/7 (I have to refresh hay at least twice a day because Chacha eats plenty of hay) and a plate full of veggies at night. Rabbit pellets are actually a food that was designed to make rabbits chubby up for other reasons that I will not say on this forum. It is sad, but true

Where do you get your hay from Nikita? There are farm feed stores that sell bulk hay for a really good price!

FrankieFlash, I totally do the same as you. I do homework for 3-4 hours and will take the rest of the day off to do 'me stuff.'

The boyfriend said that he is going to take me to the pet store next month and pick out a gift for Chacha. She will be 3 on 11/24. He said "I love this bunny."  I'll be buying Chacha's birthday gift tonight on BB. It is the Willow House

Mimzy was weighed at 5.8 lbs, She's getting 1/4 cup of pellets at night & 2 cups of veggies in the morning. Some days I feel like it's not enough but I know that's what is recommended I need to get a video of her reaction to craisins. Oh. my. gosh. she goes insane!! Once that bag ruffles, she's all over the place going in circles, I will drop them right in front of her & she's going so crazy for them that she can't concentrate well enough to actually find them O_o I only give a few every now & then, she's so silly

ChaCha - That's so exciting! Can't wait to buy my girl gifts for her first my bf is going to be buying her costume tomorrow (if we find a good one) I love when they step in & help with the pets xD

A couple days ago, one of my dogs & the puppy were wrestling and I guess my dog got a little too rough by accident which ended up making the puppy yelp. In doing so, my dog got scared & when she's scared, she gets on defense. So it started to become more of not playing anymore & we had to break it up. I took the puppy in my room to see if he was hurt. There were no scratches or sores though. But I just kept him in my room for a bit until things cooled down with my dog. I think it was just a misunderstanding with them because they're back to being friends again He really needs to find a home soon! I put up a few flyers around, no calls yet

Mimzy: Puppies sure are a handfull, I never had one though. Are you sure you can't keep him?

My cat is driving me crazy right now, she's crying for her breakfast even though she didn't finish her dinner from last night. She feels like that doesn't matter though...

Absolutely sure we can't keep him don't need a 4th dog! Haha. I work most weekdays which leaves my mom home to take care of the 4 dogs & 3 of them like to wrestle a lot, & the oldest one, she stats in the room mostly but she's going senial so she gets up often recently forgetting she already went outside to potty & she falls over easily. It's really sad! But it's definitely not been easy on my mom, she has frequent headaches too. So I think this puppy will be too much to handle right now unfortunately. He's a real sweetheart though!

This morning my bird has gotten on my nerves! If we whistles, he gets attention/reward & no attention when he screams. This is proving to be very difficult when my bf leaves something in my room that he needs & goes to get it while Kramer is still screaming! So this morning Kramer screamed for about 30-45 mins straight! I needed to hear a whistle because I had Mimzy's breakfast -.-

ARG! I just need to vent. I came home from my hour long class to find that Cinnabun had pulled up huge chunks of carpet. I thought we were past that stage of her life!! She's never even gone near the area she tore up. She has so many toys in her pen and gets "out" time for several hours. I can't help that I have to go to class early in the morning but everyday I come home to find she's made some sort of mess, and today it was tearing up carpet. I was so angry at her.

Mimzy, I never expected the Mister to help with Chacha, hahaha But when we move in together, I told him that she will 'level him up RPG style' and he will become daddy He was feeding her craisins last night and he said "I don't see her as a pet anymore. She is a human." I wanted to cryyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!! It was the most awesome thing he has said about Chacha.

There have been some cruelty free stuff on sale at my job and I got a few recommendations from my customers. One is the Jason Aloe Vera hand and body lotion. I bought it an hour ago and used it. It does not leave your hands oily or gross! Plus, it does not test on animals (leaping bunny logo!) I also saw cruelty free shaving cream, so i will switch over to that when I am done with the one that I am using now.

I hit my elbow and now it hurts -_-

lol Chacha that last part was random.

So sweets got a vet check with my good vet today. She got a clean bill of health mostly. She has some points on her molars but the vet wants us to watch it and see if it improves now she's on a proper diet since she eats hay so well. We also are waiting the results of the fecal sample but I'm relieved everything else was clear. If the fecal check is negative, we'll start slowly introducing her to Bunjamin.

But I got sad news at the end of the vet visit. Makes me want to cry. My vet is moving to Georgia. Now I have to decide where to take the buns because they both have points on their molars that need re-checked in January so they'll have to be seen and possibly clipped. She's great though, she's going to mail me their medical records when she leaves so I can take them to the new vet I chose.

Exactly Bullrider, it's heart breaking... So many pets, not just buns have passed that belong to friends and at the same time the shelters are bursting at the seems with the Spring influx and post easter and xmas dumpings. We just have to take the victories, no matter how small, when they come. My regular pet supply had little rag doll kittens, one was not doing well so was having her diet supplemented with hand bottle feeding, yesterday she crashed...Unlike most pet shops they rushed to to the nearest vet, when they did not have the specialised equipment Marita's husband rushed down and collected her and did an emergency run to a specialist. It will probably cost them 100 times more than they would have sold her for but they refuse to let the little one suffer and die if they can save her. Still waiting to hear the results of the scans. Also this week a colleague asked me about buns as her daughter now 14 wants one. I convinced them to consider a rescue, they loved the idea of saving a bun in need and have asked me for all the info I can provide. Little victories, I'll take as many as I can get.

I know what you mean, even friends I have at home are going through a lot too. its disheartening at times, and hard to see the small victories, but I am keeping my head up. this time of year is really hard as it somes up to the anniversary of the passing of my father too... on my birthday...

So sorry, BullRider. For everything you're going through right now. Keep your head up and snuggle with that big boy Blue whenever feeling down! I want a Big Blue to snuggle with... Ahhhh, Blue. I'm top Stalker of his fan club on here!

FF -- So happy Sweets visit went well! Hopefully everything else comes back negative and you can move forward with introducing! So excited for you and your little bun family!!!

LoveChaCha -- I totally agree with you. Even though my boyfriend and I got our buns together I never thought he'd be the excellent bunny daddy that he is! He even refers to himself as their daddy and me their momma. And is always talking in this cute little baby voice animating their thoughts, LOL. It's too funny. He's so protective of them too. I loveee it.

Cinnabun -- I sure do know that frustrating feeling! My buns never give me a break, I swear!

So, I've started assuming that when the breeder we bought our Tans from said that Tans aren't usually the ideal first time bunny owner bun, I'm beginning to see why. They have started pulling out even MORE attitude than I thought possible. Today, we caught the girl, Sidney, who has NEVER had a problem with using the litter box attempting to urinate on the floor. Now that Fleury (the problem one) has improved drastically and I've been so happy -- now it's the other two! I'm at my wits ends with these little bratscals. But I'm willing to work through it with them because they're so darn adorable. Anywho, so I decided to take the advice of so many others and they've had their play area resized smaller until they get the litter box right. And BOYYYY were they NOT happy. I have never seen so much attitude in my LIFE! They were tearing up the play area -- trying to tear down the bunny wall, attempting to just flat out jump it, yanking on the carpet when the wall wouldn't move, throwing stuff around, yanking on my clothes... just so much 'TUDE! So they finally just went in their cage so I quickly shut the door and ended playtime before I yanked my hair out from frustration. They make me feel so mean for making the play area smaller! LOL. But URGHHH... I just don't know what to do with them. So as soon as I closed the door I got a bunch of angry yanks on the door and then I sat down to watch my TV show and BAM. All this ruckus started thundering from the cage. They were throwing their food dishes everywhere, yanking hay out and throwing it all over the floor, throwing their toys against the walls, banging on the cage in every way possible, and then started tearing at every piece of condo they could find after flinging CareFresh EVERRRYYYWHERE and flinging a good 300 poops outside the cage. They totally lost their marbles. Thankfully after a good 30 minutes they realized I wasn't letting them back out and went to sleep. Such braaaaats.

In good news, it's the weekend!

I feel ya, bullrider. The anniversary of my mom's passing is this December. I always take the day off to remember her and to do something with my grandma (who was there with me when my mom took her last breath) and just enjoy the day. It is a sad day, but I spend it doing something fun to remember my mom. It has gotten easier over time, but I still miss my mom at times. This year will be 3 years that she has been gone.

Let the buns have a dawn run in their playpen this morning... They had a wonderful time and I seized the moment to do a full habitat clean (the play area is next) Nermal is peeved !!!! As she is a tidy bun with good litter habits I don't have to do her cage as thoroughly every time but she gets very annoyed when I strip it down completely. Nomnoms is now making a very noisy point of redecorating her favourite napping spot in protest. The others have devoured the breakfast salad and passed out in a cuddle puddle on the lovely pile of fresh hay (they don't like blankies in their condo)

Wow, I have been busy and I just can't keep up with this thread. So much stuff going on! LOL

Not much to say about the buns. They are their normal little turdie selves. They will be temporarily losing their room though. We have to move the wall that they share with the bathroom since we can't find a new bathtub that will fit. Not sure what we're going to do with them. =\

So... in 9 days I'll be heading up to the bunny rescue. Something about the breeder I was going to go to just didn't sit right with me, I contacted the rescue I got Loki from and they had a pregnant bunny come into the rescue a few months ago and have a small litter, she said she'd be delighted if I'd take a baby or two as she knows that Loki is loved and spoilt rotten. They'll grow into small bunnies and when I told my mother this I think she became smitten with them, I wouldn't be surprised if I arrive home with 2 of them!

I found this recipe online after googling: Almond Milk Hot Chocolate:

I used:

-1 cup almond milk (I don't drink regular dairy milk, so I'm sure that regular milk can work too!)

-1 1/2 tablespoons of cocoa powder
-1 teaspoon of sugar (the recipe called for 2, but I didn't need that much)

Results: OMG WHAT IS THIS GOODNESS!

I'll never drink box hot chocolate again, where the first ingredient is 'sugar.' Hello, homemade hot chocolate I need to stock up on more cocoa powder at work on my break tomorrow

I haven't been sleeping well lately, so I've been taking showers at night. It is helping me sleep...

And LongHairedMike, Ahhhhh. It's been in the 40's here. BOOO. But the past two days have been nice in the 60's!

Ugh. My buns are going to be the end of my sanity. For the life of me, I can't figure out why my buns won't litter-box train. In the past couple of days, we've caught them all peeing on the carpet. I'm trying everything with them! But ugh, now that all 3 of them.. why won't my bun babies just LITTER TRAIN.

Haha I'm trying to memorize a bunch of heart sounds for my exam, and Peppy was FREAKING OUT every time I played a clip! Cardiology does not suit her well. After getting a few chuckles in, I decided to be nice and grab some headphones .

Serves her right though, she's been a little twerp recently with the carpet...

I haven't been on in a while.  And I've really missed everyone!  I hope everyone is doing well.

The bf and I moved in successfully this past week/weekend.  The first night we let Skipper out she was Ms. Stompy and stomped more in that night then she had ever stomped in her 6months with us.  She's settling in well.  It seems though that she is more into exploring the new space and playing on our piles of clothes that need washing.  She has unfortunately taken a liking to trying to rip carpet.  We've allowed her to have access to the kitchen and living room.  She seems to like to hang out more on the tile than anything else.  As to why is a total mystery to me.   She did a small binky last night and a huge one this morning (I missed it  the bf had saw it).   So she must be liking the new house somewhat.

We're waiting to hear back from the Internet company because we currently do not have any.   We have tried four different companies and they claim we are in too rural of an area to service.   Which I think is totally insane.  We're not thatttt far from civilization.  There is this one small company that we've never heard of that claims to service the area.  ( Yeah we're real skeptical of them but hey they're the only option we have.) So, we're hoping to hear from them soon.  They surveyed the area (the only company willing to do so) today and said maybe it could be done but they have to check back later this week.  Fingers crossed we are able to get Internet or we're going to go crazyyyyy.
