Gonna keep this short cuz I'm exhausted.....Bindi had to go to the emerg vet last night. Yes, Bindi. I'm dealing with the heartbreak of Stormy's situation and all of a sudden, after a normal day, Bindi is lethargic and won't eat around 8:00 last night. I though "Oh God! Not now, of all times". A few doses of Simethicone didn't help and his breathing was insanely rapid. We went to the vet at 10:30. They gave him fluids and pain meds in a shot. I stayed up with him most of the night. He's now nibbling a tiny bit off and on. We gave him fluids this morning, thankfully, Ricky is able to do it. And another pain shot.
I need him to get better right now! My Sunday was supposed to be just me relaxing with Stormy. I'm gonna lose it, I really am!!!!
Normally, Bindi's gas/tummy upsets only last a few hours and when he's better he starts chowing down. Quick to get sick, quick to recover. But this is longdrawn. We're going to give him more fluids in a few minutes.
Too much stress. Why this weekend of ALL weekends!!!!
The vet tech felt so bad for us, knowing our situation with Stormy, she only charged us half the $150.00 emerg fee.
Bindi vibes needed! |

Could they feel anything in the stomach? Or could he be uncomfortable elsewhere? Will Tummy massage help? |

Oh no!! Would it be possible that Bindi stopped eating if he is upset about Stormy or senses that the rest of the famiky is stressed oug and upset?
Here's to a quick recovery for Bindi. |

It wasn't my rabbit vet on duty, it was a new vet but she seemed to know about rabbits. She didn't feel anything in his tummy. I wish I would have asked her to try motility drugs though. I don't know about uncomfortable elsewhere, he was fine all day yesterday, being bratty and everything. He ate all his supper at 6:00 and then at 8:00 started feeling unwell. Nothing new in his diet. I've been giving tummy massages. Will have to start CC too if he doesn't eat within the next half hour or so. I'm so frustrated and sad. He wants to eat and will have a few bites and then not touch anything again for several hours. Not even banana or pineapple. He ate a bit of willow leaves. I really wanted today to be a Stormy and Mama relax day. |

I understand it can be difficult to deal with. I have a disabled rabbit about 1 and half ago my normal healthy rabbit went into GI Stasis. Now I was dealing with 2 sick bunnies. The one thing that helped me so much was praying and staying calm and having faith my rabbit would get better. I think if I wasn't calm. I probably would have lost it. I will definately send prayers for your bunny and for you as well. |

Is Bindi any better today? I know you are having trouble just getting on line here, but when you get a chance, please update how he is making out. And I think I called Bindi "her" somewhere, so I apologize for my faux pas regarding his handsome self. I love looking at your signature pix of them. Sending Bindi huge {{{{{{{{{{Healing vibes}}}}}}}}}}}}. Maybe it's just grief and stress. Hugs.

I'm sending out super healing vibes. I had a rabbit that absolutely refused to eat, critical care just dribbled back out of his mouth and had no interest in bananas (his fav). You can try gently rubbing the throat to induce swallowing, but if he's refusing the food totally, that's usually a bad sign. No teeth issues going on?
Having had a very difficult past few years w/ my most recent loss being my mom this summer I have to share what I have learned & continue to learn. The only way to get past these awful feelings is to walk through the feelings. Take a moment to feel the stress one on one--sometimes it helps calm the mind when you accept the chaos. Also, the one thing that we always maintain control of, even in stressful or dire times is breath.....breathe! |

Thanks, guys.
This was truly an excruciating weekend. The same day we decided to make an apt to put Stormy down Bindi starts a horribly stubborn episode of stasis or some sort of tummy upset. We ended taking him back to the vet again Sunday afternoon. The only time he's ever been this sick was when he had an impaction. He just didn't want to eat and seemed so miserable. He pooed a tiny bit of crusty poos Sunday night but that was pretty much it. We slept in the living room with him Sunday night. Which makes me sad now because that was Stormy's last night with us (although I didn't know it at the time) and I would have liked to spend the night with him.
Then coming home after putting Stormy down to a still sick Bindi was truly awful. We've been force feeding, giving pain injections, sub Q fluids and motility drugs all weekend. I really wish it would have been my rabbit vet on duty this weekend. She may have been able to get him well sooner. Last night, Bindi ate a little. I brought him out into the living room but he was shaking and breathing heavy with a squeaky sound. When he hopped he got all upset because the sub Q fluids made a big balloon type blob under his arm that stresses him out when he hops. I think he was just super stressed from all the needles and Critical Care and everything. He was acting like he was scared of me. Then when I put him back home, he started humping my arm like crazy. Something he's never done so definitely stress. I didn't bring him out for run time this morning.
This morning he ate all his breakfast but it took him a couple of hours. He ate a piece of lettuce this afternoon and a bit of hay. He's been pooping but they are very small and crumbly looking. He just seems sad and not himself. It probably can't help that he's noticing that Stormy isn't in the condo beside him. He's used to commotion from Stormy's condo. It's making the whole loss of Stormy harder that my Bindi Loo is not himself.
I made a vet apt. tomorrow with my rabbit vet to get him checked out. Gonna have her look at his teeth. I need him back to normal asap.
It's so sad. My rabbit room was always such a happy place for me. This weekend it was just stress and sadness. Today, it feels so empty. I haven't been able to take apart Stormy's condo yet so I just keep expected him to run out of his house. The rabbit room is just not the same without my little Harlequin. |

I just feel so bad for you. It's such rotten timing. His having had molar issues before makes me suspect them again. And I can't help but feel he probably has had some stress from an awareness that Stormy was unwell. Do you think? Wishing you best of luck at the vet appointment. Hope you can turn this around. You deserve a break. |
