I just ordered two sets of NIC cubes on Ebay yesterday. The Cubes themselves were cheap, but the shipping!! Whoah.  (Shipping from America to Norway…).

My mother-in-law actually has a few spare cubes from when she baught them a couple years ago, when ONE store in Noway used to have them So I’m going to use those aswell, I think I’ll have about close to 40 cubes total, and if my math is correct, I will need 36. I’m planning on making a 3×2 cubes wide, 3 cubes tall cage, with 3 levels. I think this is sufficient seing that Bosse is free range whenever we are home, and when we are not, he has a pen to run around in connected to the cage, so he will never be locked in the cage

My question is, how have you arranged with flooring and carpets etc in your NIC cages? I have seen a few where the bottoms are made out of plywood and wrapped in a carpet? What kind of carpets have you been using?

I would really like your opinion on this! Thanks

I can’t see how you’ll have enough space for any levels in a 3×2 space, but I personally wouldn’t use carpet as its awful to clean if he decides he want to pee on it( mine pee on carpet samples I put in their pen).

its 3 cubes tall, I have seen others on here with the same measurements have two levels plus a half level, and that is what I was thinking of getting, I should have specified. And ofc, if it turns out that my mother in law has more cubes than I first assumed, I will try and make it 4 cubes tall.

Bosse has excellent litter habits so i’m not to worried about the peeing bit, and atm he has a carpet in his habitat
But thanks alot for the reply!

I was planning on doing something pretty similar to bmt87’s setup:

in my opinion.. if you do so decide to use carpet.. “indoor/outdoor” carpet is best… i find “indoor” carpet is almost too soft and easily pulled apart. “outdoor” carpet can be a bit prickly.. so the “indoor/outdoor” seems to be a nice combination.

also.. be sure to get enough carpet to WRAP it around the sides so there arent any corners for Bosse to pull.. or any staples that may come loose.

linoleum is also a great idea.. keeps buns cool on warm days.  plus its a little lower maintenance. i have a good vacuum so when it comes time to clean Yeti territory i just suck everything up.

but yes, linoleum is an awesome idea.
