My rabbit gold has a cut above his foot. When he walks he won’t put pressure on it. I’m so worried and scared that it hurts him that much :'( I’ve been treating his cut. But does he have a “dead” foot? He had booties on for his sore hocks and that’s how the cut formed. I feel awful. I’m scared that he won’t be able to use his foot anymore because of the pain. He deserves to walk on both of his feet )’; I want my baby to be happy. [edited out your age]. Please help me!! This rabbit helped me overcome my depression and self harm issues and means the world to me besides my boyfriend. Help.

Take him to the vet to get it checked over! You don’t want it to get infected or anything.

I can’t take him until September </3 it's hurting me to see him like this. I've been cleaning it myself three times a day.

I would take him to the vet as soon as possible. If it’s that bad even an emergency vet will do. Most vets should have a basic knowledge of rabbits.

How do you know if a rabbit has a dead foot?

I have no clue but you really need to seek medical help from a vet.

Why would you not be able to see a vet until September?! Even a normal vet could probably provide some help. If you actually think your rabbit has a dead foot then you won’t be able to provide it with the medical care it needs so you should get it to a vet before any more harm comes to it.

I agree with the others, it’s vet time. If you’re worried about payment, often vets will have a payment plan so you can pay a little now and them some later. If your rabbit is in pain (and showing it) it’s really not something you yourself can take care of. Rabbits don’t show when they are in pain because then they quickly become lunch out in the wild, so if your bun is showing that he’s hurting it really is vet time. How are you cleaning the cut? Are you using some sort of soap or other product? This could be bad for your bun as well since buns tend to groom themselves quite often and could ingest whatever you are using.

Jenny, I have to insist that this is an issue for a vet. We are not a substitute for one and can’t tell you how to treat him, especially with something more serious than a cut. Just check the list of vet resources (see our link above) and call a couple to ask fees and payment plans.

I had to delete your age in your post because we don’t allow it for your own protection. Also, if that’s your real last name, you will need to change that, too. Again, it’s to keep our members safe since this is an open forum. I’ll alert BB to contact you to see if you need the name change.

Because of your age, you are probably not the adult responsible for the well being of your bunny. Parents or adults in the home are legally responsible for pets of those under a certain age, so if you have an adult in your home, please ask them to get the bunny seen by a vet and set up medical care before September. Vets will arrange payment plans, too.
