My 13 week old Mini lop quite often flicks his ears about and then scratches them..just wondering if this could indicate a problem with his ears? or am i just being paranoid?

Also, sometimes when he just flops down on his tummy or side, I can see he’s breathing quite quickly and heavily..is this normal ?

        Thanks!

It could be an issue. Often excessive shaking of the head and scratching could be an indication of mites

Ear flicking is common, but if he scratches repeatedly throughout the day you might have something going on there.
The quick panting after a flop is normal.

With a new baby bunny, I recommend a baseline vet exam even if he’s totally healthy to get him established and make sure everything is ok, If you haven’t done that yet, this would be a good time, with the vet checking his ears closely.

Rabbits do groom their ears, so licking and scratching them are part of a normal grooming routine. If it becomes excessive, it can be a sign of mites or other issues. Definitely good to get a vet exam now so you can rule out any issues and learn what is a normal grooming routine for your bunny.

Heavy breathing is also normal, especially after running around, but again, it’s important to have a baseline vet exam so you can tell if its normal for your bun or something indicating a problem.

Ok, thanks all for your help . I’ll be sure to get him in for a baseline exam as soon as I can.
