So Foo and I are having a good morning chilling. She’s had her breakfast, has pellets in her dish and fresh water. We have cuddled and played with blankie and she has run free. I found out that since I don’t have the TV she is a lot more vocal than I thought because she’s been oinking softly quite  bit. She’s also been stomping A LOT. First I thought it was because I let her out and wasn’t paying attention to her but I’ve been playing with her and snuggling with her and she keeps doing it. Is she just happy or am I not doing something she wants me to?

Bunnies tend to stop when they hear something or see something unusual. My rabbit Oscar would do it without any warning, but I have to remind myself that his hearing is MUCH better than mine, so when he hears a car passing by he’ll stomp to signal something’s up. I can imagine Foo is super happy, it could just be little noises in your surroundings that she’s hearing.

I’ve noticed having the television on or just playing music at a low volume covers the sound of cars, people walking by, etc. so that my rabbits don’t stop nearly as much. Being in a quiet area just helps them hear even more, but I wouldn’t worry about it!

I agree with OskarAnnie. I lived in an apartment with my first buns and hearing people walk above us, cars coming/going, doors shutting would upset her and she would go on alert standing or stomping. The TV/radio being on helped her a lot! She could finally relax. I used to leave it on sometimes while I was gone, to help her out.

Thanks, that’s funny though because normally we have the TV on or Ryan’s playing on his Xbox, and I’m always afraid the noises in his games (he’s playing GTA:Liberty City right now) will upset or scare her, not the noises from the cars or elsewhere in the house, lol.

Oh yeah, the sounds that rabbit’s hear. Their hearing is EXTREMELY good, and they can hear things that we humans cannot hear!

My Chacha bun thumps at random things, and sometimes thumps at me for not petting her on time..

My Olivia is super sensitive to sounds. She will stomp if she hears people crunching food, any tapping or clicking sounds. We have a pheasant that runs through our yard everyday and it makes this loud “Baaakk” sound. If shes in the living room, she get super stampy.

Pft — I’m so jealous. My buns never stomp! I think it’s the cutest thing ever when they do! LOL.

It’s not as cute when they do it non-stop at 3:00 am and you have to get up to see what all the commotion is about. Bindi Loo is bad for this. And then I check on them, and they all think that they should get a treat for some reason.

Hahahahahaha. Poor LittlePuffyTail — you’re probably right. The only time my buns have thumped is when my last two met each other. And the girl thumped her butt off at the new boy and so he did it back from inside their separate cages. But that only happened twice. And my other little guy has never thumped in his life to my knowledge.
