Mr. Hopper is 5 years old and seems happy with his bonded friend Nibbles. He eats his salads everyday, and his pellets(which he seems to love casue he does binkies every time he get some) but for the past few weeks he is refusing to eat hay. He hasnt changed in any of his mannerisms or any other visible way. I made an appointment for him wedness day just to be safe, and I have been watching him. he is still drinking pooping and peeing normal. should I be worried??

Is it new hay? Is everyone else eating the hay with the same normal enthusiasm?

no, the same brand I get always, and all the others are eating it like normal. Mr. Hopper has never been a big hay eater as we got him from someone we knew very little about rabbits. he was kept outside all the time untill we got him. and we have had him for three years now.

I would have his teeth checked.

Thats what I was thinking, his bottom left tooth has developed a very rough surface and isnt smooth like the other ones. I worry about him because he is getting older.

I think that as rabbits age their teeth seem to change in texture like you mention. At least that is the experience with some of my elderly rabbits. Not all, but quite a few.

Glad Mr. Hopper is okay. Maybe since his tooth was chipped it was a little tender or sensitive. Hopefully he will get over his anger with a little treat.

My boy Peter (Petter in Norwegian) has a tendency to wear his bottom incisors oddly. I think it comes from his nagging to get out of cage by nibbling on the bars.
Does your bunny do that? His bottom teeth often get a / \ slanted edge, but it evens out after a few days. I try to discourage him, but he is persistant.

My vet said not to worry if it evened out and he eats hay, and he does.
Hope your fuzzbutt will behave and his teeth get back to their former glory.
