So I’ve had Belle for a few weeks now and I’ve noticed that she loves to pee on my bed, so while she was small it was okay because she had no way to get up unless I let her but now she’s big enough to just jump right on up.  Because I know that she has a tendency to pee up here I always watch her closely (she usually only does it on the blanket so I move it away) and because I’m such a sucker when it comes to bunny love I just can’t push her off because she lies down and lets me rub her ears when she’s up here – but just then she jumped onto my lap, looked at me and pee’d – just straight up pee’d on me!!!! (which then just soaked into my bed before I had time to wipe it ).  Such a cheeky bun – she then made a break for the little tub of treats I have sitting while I was distracted but now I’ve put her straight back in her cage.  I was wondering if this behaviour will stop once I get her done, or if she’ll always just regard my bed as a nice big soft litter tray?

I think part of it could be spraying which will go away with fixing. But sometimes, they just do it. Especially if it’s your bed and that smells like you. Cinnabun normally have fantastic liter box habits but every now and then she’ll pee on the couch where we sit. But she hasn’t peed on me since she was fixed.

I think she maybe actually needed to go last night and wasn’t sure how to get down because usually when she pee’s on my bed it’s much smellier and darker but today there isn’t even a mark and you can’t really smell it. Hopefully fixing her will stop the spraying after all then!

You want to train her not to pee on you or the bed. If you don’t want to put her all the way back into her cage when her tail goes up (your first warning), then you could put a spare litter pan in your room and the minute she puts up her tail, put her in that pan. Even if she pees first, scoop her into the pan, wipe the pee up with a tissue and put the soaked tissue into the pan also. Then mop your bed with a spray of vinegar and water to remove the smell. You want her to associate the pee place with the litter pan and not go on you or the bed.

P.S. If she opts to go in that litter pan first, or gets off the bed to do so by herself, reward her with praise and a small treat like a raisin. Bunnies train with positive behavior and catch on fast when they do something you like. (That included being cute while peeing on you. You want to seem even more pleased when she doesn’t.)

Well I have one litter pan in her cage just now but I think she’s outgrown it now and her little bum hangs off the edge (especially now the hay rack is positioned just above it) and I’m going to get a bigger one soon so I’ll use the old one as a spare beside my bed Thanks for all the help guys!

Parsley used to be champion bed pee-er. For me desexing pretty much stopped this problem when nothing else seemed to be working. In the meantime I used a piece of waterproof fabric on my bed as i wasnt always quick enough between tail-lifting to peeing to actually catch him. Hopefully spaying will fix your problem That said i still have to watch him carefully when my boyfriend stays the night as he sometimes decides he needs to pee wherever he is sitting/sleeping….:/
