My bunnies name is Tumper. hence the user name. I got him not all that while ago. He seems to like me, falls asleep near me, licks me, nips me for attention, but he does this weird noise. I’ve been googeling what it sounds like when they coo but nothing has came up. It sounds like a sneeze, but he only does one, but he does the multiple time per day in his play room, and throughout the day. its often when hes moving. If hes laying down for a nap he doesn’t make a peep. So i was wondering if anyone could post a link of a bunny cooing or other sounds they make so i can understand if its normal or not. Thank you so much!

          First, welcome to BB.
Second, are you sure it’s not a sneeze? Bunnies do sneeze and if he’s doing it one specific location there might be something irritating his nose, some sort of smell.
Third, it could be nothing. Some bunnies are just more vocal than others.

Does it sound like ‘mm, mm, mm?’ Often, rabbits do that and it is a love call or honking.

it sounds like a loud sniff but a higher pitch. Or when you put your tongue to the top of your mouth and give a quick hard breath. he doesn’t jerk his body when he makes it. and i’ve heard him sneeze, when he does he shakes his head. Its not in one place, its anywhere when he’s out.

Leopold makes what I would describe as a scoffing sound. I think it is him trying to grunt, but he can’t vocalize very well. Would you describe it as that?

what type of sound is a scoffing sound? I’m not sure. but that could possibly be it, when they grunt is it a good or bad thing?

It is sort of hard to describe. Since Leopold is deaf, I think that is why he doesn’t vocalize like Wooly does. It is sort of a low “umph” sound, but it is exaggerated. Grunting usually means “I’m annoyed, stop doing that”. At least with mine, that is what it means.

Maybe what you’re hearing is a higher pitched honk? A honk means they are “in love”.

Does he have any wetness or discharge around the nose? Maybe he could have a bit of an upper respiratory tract infection. Has he done this ever since you got him?

no, no wetness around the nose. but he did get a cut on his ear from a cat that we found. now hes sneezing a lot more then normal, and these are actual sneezes. so far he’s still eating so im not to worried about it. I think its just the noise he makes when hes happy. he does it often when hes in his room and biniking and what not.
