I found this on the House Rabbit Society as a PDF…found it on-line to link to as well it is January 2012:

You can download the PDF as well which might be easier to read, but I cannot link to it.

I enjoyed this article, and how they point out the many types of hay available. When I chose a big bale of Orchard grass for Chacha, I actually sniffed it, touched it, and examined it closely. There will be no moldy, gross hay in the apartment, and I would never feed the diva poor quality hay.

That is excellent. Thanks for finding and sharing it Sarita!

It’s great to still see feed studies that are pertinent to the domestic pet rather then stock animals.

Hay being the bulk of our rabbits diet, it’s definitely worth learning what we can.

            Thanks again.

This is fantastic! I really love the scales that they provide for how to choose hay. I feel like this could be a great guide for people who are new to hay-eating animals, or for people who like things to be quantified like that. I’m more of the “look at it/feel it and make a personal judgement” persuasion, but I know my partner would prefer something more quantifiable, so I’ll probably give him a copy of it when he goes to get hay without me.

I also liked what it said about how offering different types of hay provides more nutritional variety in the diet than offering different fresh vegetables.
