Since Mimzy tends to eat anything fabric, can anyone give me some tips on how to pad his living area so that he lessens the chance of injury as he rolls around?

        Many Thankies in advance.

Do you have one of the tunnels that BB makes? It’s cardboard, but is narrowish and stands on its own accordion style. You could either prop him against it or put him inside it so he doesn’t have far to roll. Hard to explain if you haven’t seen one. The idea being cardboard at an angle to confine him to a narrow, long space.

Another idea: take hay bales or mini bales and use them to prop him up. If he nibbles on it, so what? Or cover a piece of cardboard with piled hay.

Thanks Pam, I’ll give those ideas a try.

Yeah i think cardboard is the way to go-if fabric is a no no. Also maybe you could structure the sides out of rolled towels but then line with like a shower curtain? hmm-yes hows things? I’m sure you’ve figured a habitat by now

Sorry I haven’t been on. It’s now taking over most of my day to meet all Mimzy’s needs.
I went ahead and put an organic cotton towel along the sides of his habitat and secured it with zipties. He’s really too ill to mess with it.
It helps a bit but he definitely has some trouble navigating. His tilt is much worse and he’s at the uncontrollable spasm leaping and rolling right now. I see the vet on Saturday. I can only hope she’s got more to offer on treatment.
He keeps crashing into stuff. He has almost no motor control at times. I can’t reduce his space any further because he’s trying to relearn his balance. His pen is tiny as it is.
I’m so scared I’ll wake up in the morning to find he’s broken his neck. :'(
But he’s still trying to eat, drinking is impossible but we have the sub q’s. And my gosh does he come to me for affection! It’s stronger than ever before. I want to take him outdoors but I’m afraid to for fear it would stress him, but he really needs some space to get his land legs back.
We’ll see what Doctor says Saturday.
                  Thanks for all vibes.
