Lately I’ve noticed Cinnabun isn’t drinking as much as I would like her to. She’s been getting extra veggies since I’m slowly taking away pellets so it’s not that she’s dehydrated but to be on the safe side I’d like her to drink more. The problem is that she’s been a bottle bun since the day I got her. I tried to give her a bowl once and she had no idea what to do with it. Does anyone have any kind of suggestions for switching from a bottle to a bowl?

Well, if she likes the bottle and you really want her to be getting lots of water, stick with it. Maybe place both a bowl and the bottle out for her to choose. Also, she might be getting extra hydration from the veggies and doesn’t need to drink as much. Evelyn has never used a bottle, so that’s all the advice I can think of! Someone else will probably be of more help.

I would have a bottle and a bowl in her place.

My bunny does not drink as much water if she has her veggies.

Giving her the option of both is a good idea. She may learn how to drink from the bowl after a while. You can also be sure she knows what’s in there by putting a drop from it onto her mouth, or moistening a leaf in the bowl then feeding it to her, so she sees it’s water. It may not work, but she will know what’s in it that way.

She is getting hydrated from her washed veggies. Give her more hay, since Sammy heads straight for the water dish after consuming a large quantity of her favorite hay.

When i was transitioning Scat, i left both in his cage for a few days, at first he wouldnt touch the bowl of water, once he figured things out, he ignored the bottle completely so i took it out.

I would just give her both.

With a large amount of veggies, rabbits really don’t drink often. I can count the times I see my buns drink per week on one hand. They’re home alone for 8 hours a day, then alone for 8 hours while we sleep, so I’m sure they drink at some point. They just don’t drink nearly as much as a dog, for example, so you’re less likely to see it.
