        hi everyone c:

my bunny fufsy made a really weird noise today, and im not sure if i should be worried. i already searched the web for information on this, but i dont really trust some of these websites like, yahoo answers, etc haha.

anyway, she was sitting up, opened her mouth, and made a goose-like sound? like human whooping cough? she did this twice. she is eating and drinking and has normal poop. however, she hasnt laid down today in her comfy position, and i noticed her ears were pressed back earlier while in a meatloaf position. she has no runny eyes or nose. ears are clean.

also, she was spayed about two weeks ago.

        thank you!

Hmmm I’m not sure! It sounds like a yawn with a noise….Was her mouth open for a few seconds like it would be with a yawn in a person, kind of a stretch? When Kahlua yawns sometimes she makes a little noise, she is always stretching her whole body when yawning, it’s very dramatic.

I can’t really think of any other reason-just thinking that as long as she’s acting normally, eating and drinking, pooping and peeing and has no discharge at eyes or nose, then she’s likely just fine.

yeah, her mouth opened like a yawn, except she did it twice. she was sitting up when she did it. and the noise was kinda loud.

i read that sometimes they let out a loud snort here and there, but idk. because some sites also say like if its a cough she could be really sick. ive been all over youtube trying to hear what these noises actually sound like, but hasnt been too much of a help.

thats cute your bunny does that though! when they stretch it is the cutest thing c:

Did it sound like a swan honking?

haha yeah. it kind of sounded like that! and her mouth was open when she did it. i thought she was gagging or choking at first D: but she seems fine now, other than shes being lazy and wont play with me /:

Now that it’s Monday, I would call your vet and take her in for a little check up. What concerns me is the meatloaf position with ears back, and the lethargy today. It may be nothing, but since she was recently spayed, you just want to make sure she’s recovered well. If she got a little respiratory problem, or just a cough, you want to catch it. If she’s just yawning and honking, reassurance will come from a vet telling you. Then the next time she does it you’ll know it’s normal for her. But bunnies are subtle when they are ill, so I would rule it out with a visit.

Hello! Thank you for your reply. I called my vet and they said if she acts weird again or her eating/pooping habbits seem different (even if a little bit), to bring her in. He is pretty sure it was just a weird bunny honk from what i told him. Also, later last night, she was laying stretched out, relaxed and she played all night long. She is still eating, etc. but now that its morning again, shes laying down like the meatloaf. Maybe she just likes sleeping that way, idk. I tried turning the tv down etc because i read that honk sound means annoyed, but she hasnt honked since so idk. My biggest fear is for her to have a seizure, but im sure if it was that, shed still be doing it? Ive never seen a bunny have one, but ive read theyre prone to them. But im going to keep an eye on her and if she acts weird tonight i am def going to bring her to the vet again. Hopefully he wont charge too much! Her spay broke the bank haha. Anyway, thanks again for all your replies. It helps to get opinions!
