Stickers has stopped listening to me when I thump, when I say no, when I clap my hands, when I make obnoxious loud noises, etc. So I tried the spray bottle on her. She JUMPED into the spray so more of the water would hit her. o.O Anyone ever known a bun to LIKE water before? lol I know they shouldn’t get very wet, so I didn’t spray her much, but yikes she’s such a weirdo.

We just had a ‘convo’ the other day about this (https://binkybunny.com/FORUM/tab…fault.aspx). It seems now that it’s summer all the buns figured out their “punishment” is actually a great way to cool down.

            Links not working for me

But it was 60 degrees here today – she couldn’t have been hot, I hope. lol But I have no way of “punishing” her now, I even got up to pick her up and she just sat there. Argh. She adapts too quickly, she must be part borg. 😮

Pacey loves the water! He tries to go swimming every time I take him out in my dogs kiddie pool.

A good way to show them you are angry is to just lift their back legs a little big to make them move. Otherwise their face will touch the ground and get all smooshed, lol. Just be consistent!

Yea, that’d be Buck – he did the same thing with the water. He doesn’t like when I put it on stream and squirt his toosh though, so I do that when he’s being naughty. I’m hoping he starts the water swimming in summer though, that’d be cool!

I took Penny out and I never expected rain to occur.
                    … The sky rained.
Penelope had fun playing in the rain, but I didn’t enjoy getting wet and ran upstairs with her to get out of the storm.

Another time Penelope and I went to the nearby beach.
She… Ran towards the shore. She wasn’t afraid of the water splashing her.
I picked her up and put her on the sand away from the water, but she flopped and relaxed on the wet portion of the sand. We stayed there until I had to take her home.

I’ve tried taking brave water-loving Penelope to a public water fountain (its not unsanitary because people do it with dogs all the time).
She just sniffed the water. She doesn’t catch the concept yet.

Goodluck stickerbunny. Water is my savior when it comes to getting bunjamin to stop from doing something naughty. On a side note, I thought rabbits couldn’t swim…

*edit I didn’t put that website there. Not sure how it got there either*

Frankie, I’m not sure what’s on that webside, it won’t open for me but I’ve seen a LOT of youtube videos of bunnys swimming. It’s not recommended to get a bunny we just because it’s so hard to get them all the way dry and they can get sick and possibly die from what I’ve heard if they get cold.

They kinda just float like the little blobs they make when they flop but they also kick their feet and stuff. I think you should youtube it just because it’s so cute! btw, I LOVE Bunjamin’s coloring. So cute!

Thanks Mr. Buck. Right now its shedding so it’s even more colors and patterns lol. And that’s what I figured about the getting wet thing but I wasn’t sure they could “swim”. Do these bunnies voluntarily go into the water on youtube bc i’ve seen some torturous videos of people putting their rabbits in the shower and the rabbit tries to get out and they keep them in there and that’s just cruel.

It’s not fair to the animals for that kind of thing, but I have seen them go in by themselves also. I’ve also seen some go in the shower on their own and stand up to get hosed down, that ones pretty cute too!

Zoo-Zoo LOVES water. she loves baths and swimming and splashing in her little pool, she tried to take a shower with me a few times but i’m afraid my shampoo will hurt her. it’s actually quite normal for them to like water and it’s fine to let them get soaked just dry them off and let them in a warm room until their completely dry. but try holding her up to eye level and telling her no very sternly it seems to work for zoo-zoo

I found Kokanee did the same thing-I think the water isn’t aversive enough for punishment. Punishment only works if it’s aversive enough, and lets face it we don’t want to be mean!

So I generally don’t use punishment for behaviour modification. Interrupt-and redirect is much more proven. (you can google to read more about it, it’s often written up as part of positive behaviour therapy and they use it with people)

                                Hope this helps!

i just tried this today, Parsley just sat and looked at me like ‘what are you doing’ and went back to eating my bag. In the end i had one wet rabbit and one chewed bag…not as effective as i’d hoped it would be..
