        Hi everyone,

In the past week or so, once or twice I’ve picked Merry up and found that she’s got a little bit of poo on her butt (so I assume it is).  And she’s stinky too!  Her fecals have been great – no evidence of diarrhea or loose stools or even uneaten cecals.  She’s not a litter box lounger… any ideas? (I haven’t checked her scent glands yet – I have an interview [yay] in a few minutes) Does this warrant a vet visit?  I saw her about a month ago and Merry was lookin’ good.  Ideas?

        p.s. she’s not overweight at all…

I would check her scent glands first before you worry about anything else. My Nate gets stinky from time to time and it’s always from his scent glands.

          Good Luck on your interview!!!!!!!!!!!!

That happened to my bunny I came to find out it was his scent glands. Check and clean them out. That will take the smell away!

If it doesn’t go away with a scent gland cleaning, then it sounds like squashed cecals to me. If it doesn’t clear up soon, it might be wise to visit the vet.

Thanks everyone! I tried to do a cleaning last night … PEEEEUEY! . She’s so fluffy it wasn’t so easy to do … So I hope I did it right. There was a little stuff but it didn’t seem to me that they were excessively clogged or anything. So we shall see how it goes!

I can confirm that it’s the smell from those glands that’s making Banner a cranky man… I still handsome scent on my hands last night when I was near his pen and he attacked my hands! It just never ends sometimes, does it!

A little vinegar and water should cut the smell, then wash that off with some soap and you should be fine.
