I just got a bunny the other day, and I am building her a play pen so she can be outside. However, I am not sure if the grass is safe for her because it gets treated. It hasn’t been treated in 2 or 3 weeks and has been mowed several time plus it has been raining a lot. It is treated by Scots.

Is it okay to let her eat and play on the grass? If not, I have another area that isn’t treated where I can take her.

treated grass is not safe. I don’t know the technicalities but even if you’re lawn wasn’t sprayed be leery if your neighbors is because the wind can sometimes blow the chemicals over and make your grass unsafe too. I hope someone else will chip in on this with more information.

I would not put her anywhere it’s been treated. Even though it’s been a few weeks and been mowed, etc…the stuff is still in the soil.

I agree that I don’t think that grass is safe. It is also not a good idea for rabbits to eat in your lawn in case other animals have used the bathroom there. They can get worms from that.

Any time a rabbit is outside, they must be in a totally predator proof enclosure. Even if you have a fenced yard, a predator (dog, cat, hawk or other wild animal) can get to a rabbit and harm it or frighten it so much that the rabbit hurts itself. Or the rabbit can escape and run off. You have to be very vigilant and stay with the rabbit. But if it’s in an open enclosure, there is still danger with you near. I have heard firsthand stories of rabbits being injured or worse by predators, when they were in the yard, even though a person was nearby.
