SOOOOOO….todd gets fixed on wed morning, i took out the first level of his cage last night, and now he is jumping up to the second level of his cage, i even put up the carpet from the first level so he wouldnt jump up there and he still did and some how got up there.  I just put the carpet up again and tried to like clip it to the top of his cage so he can scoot it out of the way.  If this doesnt work what should i do? It would be to complicated to take out the top level of his cage bc it is up there for good. Ugh, i was trying to think of something that i could block it off with if he gets up there again, but im hoping this time he would be able to more the carpet. I guess we’ll see. Also its pretty high for him to jump down from so idk if he can even jump down from it, i have work today and i dont want him jump up tjere again and not be able to get down. i dont want him to jump up there at all!  If he trys to jump up there once he gets home from the vet them im really screwed bc that cant be good for his incisions. HELP

Do you have a picture of his cage setup? I forgot what it looks like and I’m having trouble coming up with ideas without it.

haha don’t worry about mess. He looks like he’s pouting too.. Typical bun. I hope that works. I was trying to figure out if you had any extra nic cubes if they could be used as a block aid.

Bad Buns, Bad Buns… Whacha gonna do, whacha gonna when they bun for you………………….
Personally I use a large neoprene chopping board with a full 2
litre water bottle on top to weight it down. There is still the odd head on assault but 2 litres is enough to jiggle but not roll off.

Hi, Evan, it’s important to keep him from jumping but I can understand your limits in terms of blocking him from doing it so far.
Do you have an Xpen to move him into temporarily for a few days?
If not, and you’re away at work, maybe the best thing would be to make a wide ramp for him to walk up and down. The point being he won’t jump if he can take the ramp. The jumping is jarring and stretching his wound, so if he can be persuaded to walk up a ramp it might keep him uninjured.

Non Sequetor: about your (lovely) signature design – the space per page is very limited in the forums, so we ask members to keep their siggies small, without any animated graphics and stuff like that. The photos you use are fine, but there’s a big space for the frame and Todd’s name. Could you keep the border tight to the pix and maybe move “Todd” to the right of it, rather than below? Try to keep it within the height of the space you see in Roberta’s blank siggy space.
Also, when you post a pix, be sure to keep it smaller for the same reason. The screens people use are just getting smaller, so a large photo requires scrolling and moving on to more pages which may limit the number of replies you get from members just because it takes too long to see everything and move through multiple pages. It’s a little thing, I know, but it makes it easier for members to chat and view each other’s pix. Thanks!

I was just going to message about the siggy, but since Pam gave advice about, I just wanted to add size requirement info – Please see : https://binkybunny.com/FORUM/tabid/54/aft/120318/afnp/283923/Default.aspx

I agree with Frankie about finding a possible other NIC cube to just ziptie in quickly and block it off.

He may try to jump up a few times out of habit and not realize it’s blocked off and “stress” for a little bit trying to figure out who the heck changed his home – that’s why I suggested doing it in your last post a few days ahead of schedule because Lola kept trying to jump on a phantom ledge that had been removed. Again, it was hysterical but probably would have caused some real damage had she done it after her surgery.

Giving Todd some time to adjust to his new (temporary) 1-story surroundings is such a good idea and I love that you are trying to keep him in the home he is comfortable with! But if it comes down to it and he still is trying to jump maybe an x-pen would be the best idea. I didn’t have to do that – Lola got used to the change after a night of confusion.

                          Good luck!

there’s a sticky in the tech forum I believe it is about signature heights and widths. Check it out to see if yours is the right size

Yay! I am glad it worked out for you! Good luck with his surgery tomorrow! Give him lots of nose rubs and love before he goes in!
