I’ve never fed my rabbit any. I think they can eat the whole thing (flower, leaves, and stem), but I know they can eat the greens (leaves). Someone will correct me if I’m wrong. I’d give them a wash to get any dirt off.

I know that I’ve seen at least one list that says rabbits can eat dandelion flowers as well as the greens. If you pick them from your lawn, make sure that no pesticides have been sprayed in the area and wash them well in case other animals have used the bathroom on or near them.

I buy Italian dandelions at speciality/natural foods stores for my rabbits, and I have also grown the Italian dandelions for them in the past. I just got some seed packets in the mail today.

I’ve been picking dandelions outside (flowers and leaves) and washing them really well and giving them to my bunny, he LOVES them.

I feed Porky dandelions from my yard all summer, and I even press some for winter treats. Both greens and flowers are edible (people can eat them too.) I only collect them from my own yard though, b/c I never spray pesticides, herbicides, fungicides or use any chemical fertilizers (the only fertalizer we use is Porky’s poops, and only in the flower beds, not the yard.)

I also collect violets, clovers, rose petals and grasses from my yard for snacks for Porky.

I typically buy them. More stores have them than you might think! They tend to be one of my “more expensive” veggies, at $1.50 to $2 if they are organic. However, they come in pretty big bunches, and my vet calls them “bunny crack” because they love them so much! I have been trying to keep them as one of my “staple greens” because they are just so yummy! So far my staple greens are lettuce (green/romaine/red), dandelion, cilantro. This week I have: cilantro, red and romaine lettuce, spinach, kale, and dandelion! I almost got her some curly endive, but she has never tried that, and as we are on vacation atm, I figured keeping her with familiar greens was best.

Dandelions are a big fave here. I actually enjoy them too, sauteed with a little butter and salt.

I’ve never fed them from my yard, even though I get plenty in the summer, because I’m unsure if anyone near me uses pesticides and I worry about some blowing on my yard. Hubby gets annoyed when I “pay for weeds” at the grocery store. Lolz, too bad, cuz the buns love them and he knows they will always win.

My buns also love the dried dandelion flowers that I got in a mixed flower hay topper.

If dandelions are expensive in States, you can try growing them. Grows like a weed! (Sorry, couldn’t resist)

What I do is I rip up the whole plant (roots and all) remove the roots because not sure if those are safe for bun consumption or not, give em a good wash cut the whole plants up, grab some orchard grass and other veggies like green beans and give it to my buns in a salad. Mocha eats it faster then Reno though. BTW, Reno is my bro’s bun which I am caring for since I love bunnies.
