I think my baby boy bunny is going through puberty =[  Hes about 4 months old now. Im planning on getting him fixed next month.  Hes now starting to be so bad, he chews on all the wood in my room and i even sprayed it with like bitter apple spray and it doesnt seam to stop him, also when he does it i spray him with water and say no, and now i feel like he hates me =[  Today i was sitting in my room and he started to digg and nibble on my sweat shirt that im wearing and then nibbled on my hip on the bare skin, i screatched so he knew not to do it.  I know once he is fixed he wont be so crazy, but is this stuff normal? Im just concerned bc i dont want him to become and aggresive bunny and hate me bc i love him so much

That definitely sounds like a hormonal bun to me! The digging and nibbling sometimes occur after neutering; sometimes that’s just the bunny’s personality. But you are doing the right thing by letting your bun know that his nipping hurts you. It doesn’t sound like he is actually aggressive, just going through puberty. I don’t think you have anything to worry about, especially since you’re getting him neutered so soon.

Be patient with him. It isn’t his fault he’s crazy right now! Things will get better after he’s altered, and you can get back to bonding. Good luck!

Wosh goodd!! I was worried ha i dont want him to be a bratty bun. So hopefully its just s stage and will get better after hes fixed. He does love me though and is happy, always does binkies and grinds his teeth softly when i pet him and runs circles around my feet all the time! He gets at least 3 hours out of his cage and sometimes more when im not busy, his cage is even pretty large i think. Thanks for the good words makes me feel better about him!

He is definitely hormonal, and the circles mean he LUVS you.
He will be this way until one month after his neuter. Once it’s done, there’s a little surge of activity before it calms down for good. Then he will be much less aggressive, but he will still love you.

Digging and nipping can also be grooming, they don’t quite realize we don’t have the fur to protect us

How big is his cage? Rabbit.org recommends a minimum of 4×4 square feet of living space (cage or pen) plus a few hours of run time daily.

I’ve heard lime works, and I use “fooey” with some success, I have heard that bunnies tend to like Bitter Apple

I’m not familiar with lime (you mean the fruit, right? Not the cleanser.) but also a spray bottle of white vinegar and water is a good deterrent. It also is an excellent cleaner of the cage and litter pan.

Oh yes, just lime juice. I’ve read it here, I forgot who it was… I never thought of vinegar! I’ll have to try that!

Yeah, mine was such a brat when he went through puberty, he also ruined my carpet. He’s much better now though that he’s neutered and almost a year old, he is such a sweetie.

Wow the fooey didn’t even help!

What is his diet? You’re going to have to wait a couple months still, but once I lowered Sams pellet intake at 6ish months she ate a ton more hay and was less destructive

Missy has hit the terrible teens, her spay is next month. What is fooey?? I’ve tried using a vinegar/water solution but she doesn’t even seem to notice.

Sam and ladys human- Todd gets as much pellets as he wants since he is young, once he is 6 months old he will be down to a half cup a day split into breakfast and dinner. He also gets unlimited hay and has a hay strung basket and apple sticks and stuff to chew on in his cage. He doesnt eat much hay but a lot more than he used to. Yeah he must like the fooey haha idk.

Missy Mommy- Fooey is this spray i got it at the pet store, its sorta like sour apple spray, (something animals dont like the taste of, it taste soooo bad)
