I’ve got a small problem, that can be fixed but I’m not sure how. Help please..  My bunny stays mostly in an oversized Xpen indoors, and on nice days I’ll load her into my small pet carrier and take her into another Xpen outside. She’ll hop right out and run around me outside and everywhere else. But I recently decided to take her to my safe and secure bedroom so while I was reading and what not she could roam free in my room. But when I opened her carrier door and went to sit down I started to hear her thump REALLY hard in the carrier. She did a few times and I decided she was uncomforatble so I took her back “home”.  I would like, and I’m sure she would like, to roam around my room for a while each day, but every day she always gets really angry or scared and won’t come out. Whats wrong? I don’t want her to be so afraid. Honestly it kinda scares me when she thumps. Please help.

The room may smell a little different and she was just thumping because it was different. Just leave her in the carrier with the door open and she should come out eventually. It will just take time.

Okay, but it was really hard, and I was afraid she would hurt herself. Is this hard loud thumping normal?

It is perfectly normal. It is a protest of sorts. Some, such as your girl, do it when they are nervous about a new situation. Others do it for silly things, like after you pet them. Sometimes people can get into thumping wars with their bunnies, as after a bunny does something like charge/bite you, the best way to show your dislike for their behavior is to either turn your back or stomp your feet like they do. Then sometimes the bunny stomps in return to your stomp. It is pretty funny.

It does sound like they must be hurting their feet when they stomp incredibly loud! It’s perfectly normal though.

Okay, good! I definitely didn’t want her to harm herself. I think I’m going to start Taking her to my room each day for a little while, if she’s not too scared, and let her get used to it.
