You could bring her, but most airlines will not allow rabbits to ride in cabin, I think only one or two will. She cannot ride in the cargo portion of the plane because it is not climate or pressure-controlled. It takes awhile sometimes to find an airline that will allow this, I’m not sure if you could make all of the necessary preparations in only a week. I’ve also heard the cost of bringing a live animal to be anywhere from $75-150. She would not count as luggage… lol. We had a thread awhile back about this, let me see if I can find it.

I don’t know how current this list is, but here is what the HRS says regarding airlines and rabbits.

Frontier allows rabbits in the cabin under the seat
Continental allows rabbits in the cabin under the seat
United now allows rabbits in the cabin under the seat
Horizon allows rabbits in the cabin under the seat
Alaska allows rabbits in the cabin under the seat
Delta allows rabbits only in the cargo area as luggage
AlItalia allows rabbits only in the cargo area as luggage

            http://www.rabbit.org/care/airlines.html

This page contradicts some of the HRS list.  It states that Delta allows animals in the cabin.  It’s not dated, so I don’t know which one is more current.

I lean toward the option of leaving her. Besides the cost and difficulty of flying arrangements (carrying her along with luggage – a challenge) and the stress to her, I have one argument favoring leaving her: you will always need a plan if you go away unexpectedly, and finding the right care for her sooner instead of in a future emergency is better. You can test the waters with your aunt as a place for her to stay. Writing up instructions, having her settled comfortably in your aunt’s home (does she have any pets to worry about?) can go a long way in having a back up person in the future. You may have a vacation again.
Also, if it’s not a good idea to leave her with family, you can look around for a boarding place. (My exotics vet boards bunnies and it’s cheap with her).

I say leave her. Can you find someone to take care of her?

Call the airline, but I agree-its nto likely you could arrange it, but if you do-she must be in the cabin with you -good luck!

For three weeks, I would probably leave her in your aunt’s care. At least she will be somewhere familiar, instead of being set up in a strange new environment that may or may not be bunny-proofed. Maybe you could just ask your aunt to go over to your place once or twice a day to check the food/water/litter, and let your bunny out for a little bit to play.

I triple ditto (or is it quadruple or more??)..that leaving her may be the best option. I think that if you can trust your aunt to follow your direction then that would be the best option. IF you feel that having your bunny at her place is best, then just do your best to make sure that at least within her cage/pen things are in their familiar place.

If your aunt proves to be a good Bunny Sitter (and she herself enjoys it), then you may find you have a reliable bunny caregiver when you need one.
