I am wondering if anyone has any bright litter box ideas for me  I use straw in Parsleys litterbox and it gets EVERYWHERE and i mean everywhere! my room looks like a barn! He likes to pull pieces of straw out and leave them all over the floor  I dont want to stop using straw in his litterbox as he likes it but i was wondering if anyone had any bright ideas or know of  litterboxes that might help keep the straw in the box a bit more!

If you scroll down on the habitats and toys page there was a posting about litter box references. It shows alot of pictures of different litterboxes!

You could get a litter screen. And do look at that link up there! ^^
So, you absolutely don’t want to change the type of litter? You could change the type of litter and still give him straw.

thanks il definitly take a look at that link
and if possible i didnt want to change the litter as hay makes such a good compost and it used to get quite pricey with the store bought litter when i had my old bun. Parsley also doesnt have a cage as such and due to my current living arrangements lives in my room, so i cant really think of another way to give him straw that wouldnt involve him spreading it all over the room..

I take cardboard boxes (with tape taken off first) and put a few willow leaves as treat and hay in several places in my room and Bunjamin will jump in the box to eat. Occassionally they get too many poops in them that I throw them out and start a new one! This is how I spread hay all over without having it actually on the floor.

Can you try using a covered litterbox like these used for cats?

I also think the screen idea might work, unless he is smart enough to somehow flip it out of them box.

I’ve reposted this picture several times from a member on here. I like how simple it it!

It has a hay rack and litter screen but you could still do something similar with your normal litter etc.  The downside might be the sound of a bunny tearing cardboard in the dead of night…

You could attempt using a large plastic crate with entry holes then the normal size litter box set inside that.  This is a little different to a hooded box because the top is open so the rabbit might feel less closed in. Some like that, some don’t.

thanks for the ideas, i’ve tried the cardboard box idea but unfortunatly his reaction was; hurrah new toilet!
honeysbuns- the litter box actually looks perfect! i’m in australia and there is a somewhat limited range where i live but i think i’m going to hunt for one like that not being a big cat lover i didnt realise they made high sided litter pans for cats, hopefully i can find something similar!

                          Good Luck

Pablo flips his water and it’s so annoying! Luckily, I found an attachable bowls to hang places. I hang one on a grid by my bed, one in the kitchen, and one on the porch. (I bought several!) I bought 5..  I bought 5, so when some grow bacteria I have some to replace them.

Oh, and I thought I would just share (If you didn’t already have the idea.) that baby bottle cleaners (little rought scrubby things) are great bowl & bottle cleaners! Who would’ve known?  (Everyone but me!)

Anyways, tell us what works out best for you and your fur monster!
